Thanks for the update. Disappointing that 'no choice' is a thing and not just a few unfortunate examples.

Thanks for that. Is supper just another word for soup?

Quesadilla on BNE - CNS VA799 8pm depature. Other option was a cheese plate
Bread roll reminded me of a mini version of one of those 6 packs in Coles for $2

Red Duck Curry on A330 Sydney - Perth.

Was very nice.

Edit - not sure why photo posted sideways as it's correct on the original.

Looks delicious!

About the sideways photo issue - try editing the photo slightly on your device (rotating it & rotating again to original upright position, or perhaps cropping it slightly) and then re-posting. This always works for me when a portrait-oriented image posts sideways. ;)

Va799 8pm departure Brisbane to Cairns.
Lamb pastries. First time for me for this. Quite tasty.

Fairly abysmal J Dinner service on BNE-MEL flight last week that my partner received... to the point that she actually made a comment to me about it.

The loaded 'soup' didn't meet expectations for dinner and the Pantry wasn't loaded at all! Plus the side of beans really didn't make sense and the regular cheese that is now part of of dinner service wasn't loaded.

I've had better meals on the shorter MEL-SYD and MEL-NTL flights recently along with having the pantry loaded (albeit not advertised).

The saving grace was the the CSM was quite lovely and proactively offered to get snacks from Economy.

Had chicken and a vegetarian soup options. I went for the chicken and it was very good. Both were equally popular.

Its just getting worse at VA shorthaul business.

And I second this.

I'm doing the OOL - MEL return run a lot lately and given that I'm allergic to Jetstar and QF only run a skeleton service in/out OOL, I'm using VA quite a bit.

The 330 J class service Virgin has over to Perth is terrific but in my opinion, their 737 J class service is in deep decline. This is a shame cause it was a good product not that long ago. The decline is reflected in indifferent cabin service (which is becoming the norm not the exception) and very ordinary catering.

Yesterday I was in row 2 looking at a dozen limp slices of cucumber (3rd time that week) trying to pass themselves off as a salad and wondering why I'm wasting money/points on this.

The day before we all waited 45 minutes into a 2 hour flight before His Majesty the J cabin FA appeared from his curtained off cubby hole and offered drinks and a cornish pasty. Maybe the sheer embarrassment of having to offer J customers a cornish pasty made him hide away. I was floating past Dubbo before a glass of wine appeared. As parched as the paddocks below. The pasty would have been fine if I was paying $85 and sitting in 25e but when I'm in 2f I'd rather that VA at least pretended that they valued my business and offered a meal / snack that was cabin appropriate (say, a smoked chicken bagel or something like that).

And this wasn't a one off. Two out of three VA flights are like that these days. Bored (mostly late 20 something FAs) and SCG outer food.

I'd be rope-able if I was paying full freight to fly VA 737 J class. But I don't expect anyone ever does (and maybe this goes some way to explaining the decline)

Only one VA flight this upcoming week but can't wait for that bowl of cucumber again ...

Cucumber slices?!?!!?! You must be platinum! I usually only get a ramekin of wilted leaves as a salad, and a chocolate coated nut for dessert.

Is it cucumber? I thought it might've been zucchini with Parmesan cheese. I didn't mind it.... It was refreshing and a bit different and certainly a change from a few salad leaves.
