VA1594 today 26/12/23, apparently an Xmas special meal.
Very underwhelming.
Best part was probably the chocolates honestly.

Weather has wreaked havoc all day; feel for everyone involved across pax and crew.

Sorry but I don't even know wtf that dish is. It seems like they made it up onboard with different meals out together.

That looks really unappetising . More like a punishment for Christmas rather than a celebration of it.

Dinner on VA870 from SYD to MEL last Friday was a choice of the pasta with chorizo or the chicken with yoghurt dressing and rice.

Went with the chicken and opted the pasta for the little one. Glad we were in row 1 as they only have loaded three pastas and everyone else behind us had no choice.

PDB of sparkling, water and OJ offered and orders were taken from 1F to 1A (where I was seated) then 2A to 2F as it appears Mr 1F was a platinum so the crew took his order first.

Both meals tasted good but the service was only average with the CM hiding in the galley after the meal service.

A SYD-MEL is scheduled for around 1.15 hours with around 30 minutes if lucky of service time... Curious to know what were you expecting of them to do after the service?

Sorry what I meant was to offer a top up of drinks after the meal service (if the pax still has a drink with them after the meal tray has been collected).

The day we travelled had good weather and we were slowed down by ATC in Melbourne so time was not an issue.

I have crew being proactive in the past but I wouldn't blame them given the current staff situation.

Happy New Year!

Decided to treat myself at the start of the new year by using one of my complimentary upgrades on the short hop from MEL to CBR this morning on VA259.

Was offered a choice of a “bagel with scrambled egg and chorizo” or some sort of yoghurt bowl (I think… the second choice has escaped me). I chose the former. Meals were offered and served in the order 1AC, 1DF, 2AC, then 2DF.

The bagel itself was a bit hard and I think the eggs were cut up pieces of a boiled egg and not scrambled. But otherwise it was quite tasty. I appreciate that it’s difficult to cater for such a short flight.

Cabin crew did a great job making sure the service didn’t feel rushed which can often be the case on the short hops between MEL and CBR where they have very little time to work with! Tea and coffee were offered after the meal but I declined.

The flight departed and arrived on time so overall a great start to the year.IMG_0115.jpeg

VA908 BNE-SYD this morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the beep beep at the gate and being told I was not longer in 3A.
Got to the end of the airbridge to see zero queue, and was welcomed onboard. J was full and our delightful CM was offering OJ and water as PDB.
Once airborne, the offering for the morning was either Scrambled eggs + Bacon & Cheese on sourdough or scrambled eggs + beans + mushrooms. Order was 1AC, 1DF, 2DF, 2AC.
I took the scrmabled eggs with the bacon and cheese, but discovered that the alternate also had a sour dough slice, with the eggs separate. Eggs were a bit rubbery, but okay and sufficiently flavoursome. There was also a pound cake slice on the side as well - a pleasant surprise!
On time departure and on time arrival into SYD was another pleasant surprise, and hopefully a sign of things to come in 2024!

Also had the magic beep last Friday (also row 3)! Unfortunately they hadn't loaded enough to cater my new J seat but was happy with the free wine and snacks.

Same here - got told at gate that catering was not assured, however when onboard our CM made no mention of that. :)

Did your new boarding pass have a FCNA code?
I didn't look at the time, however it did show booking class as J and I've received 55SC for the flight, so I'm guessing that someone took a ticket out of revenue for me 😇
