Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

MEL-PER. Even though our take off time was mid-morning Melbourne time and the flight was a good 5 hours, we were served breakfast. I’d connected from a sparrows HBA flight, so I had well and truly moved on from brekkie. The corn fritters were a bit chewy, but the breakfast carrot cake was tasty as usual. The FAs were happy to serve beers later in the flight. A few of the wiser J passengers asked for snacks instead of the meal.

The best service from Pat for me and my workmate in 2D and 2F.
Full cabin, my order taken first (WP).
Pat's service made it feel truly special and worth being in business class. My mate doesn't do business class and he LOVED the experience.
Chicken thing that was super yummy (sorry, the name of it went in one ear and out the other).

I had Pat last night on VA973 and same meal. She’s a star. Great flights apart from the person behind me who was very entitled & rude to Pat. While they had a genuine complaint, it was how condescending they were.

Cost cutting?
Banana bread and apple cake MEL-BNE VA303.
Banana bread was good but apple cake inedible raw like texture. I didn’t realise how low effort Virgin was getting with the food.
Other option didn’t look much better an egg and chive crumpet.
I could have just got the $8 meal deal down the back.

It's been cut ages ago so no cost cutting.

That apple isn't bad, much better warm but it's not served warm. Breakfast food is always cough. Fly lunch or dinner if you want better food.

What $8 meal down the back would you have gotten because I can't recall anything warm that's $8.

I refer to the drink and banana bread deal.

I’m sorry but mildly warming a piece of banana bread doesn’t take it in to business meal territory for me, no matter the time of day.

Strongly disagree on the apple cake. Both went back to the galley almost untouched.
You pay extra to have a meal and I have had good breakfast on board previously.

Choice of chicken katsu and veg pasta.
Went with the chicken.
Was good. The salad thing was interesting. I have no idea what it was, but it was a welcome change and was quite nice.
The coconut vanilla cake was delicious.
Service from Soph was terrific.

Katsu or Korma.

katsu was selected and didn’t disappoint. Super tasty.

VH-VUK has new J seats and no divider. fav part of flight was the incredulous look on 1D when Y pax went past to the loo. Shaking head and rolling eyes. Great form!

Today I flew from my home port of CNS to HND. I took this flight a year ago and today I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed at the difference. Things are certainly up a few notches today.

Today there was a printed menu and even an amenity kit.

I chose the gnocchi as it's just what I felt like having. I was not disappointed at all. Service was excellent and the drinks were happily offered and served without asking.

There was quite fast and very reliable free wifi for business class to browse social media, news, etc, view the VA entertainment offerings which were OK and kept me occupied. It was quite impressive.

I'll be sad to see this service to HND end. The 737 MAX 8 was very comfortable up the front end at least and I did enjoy it.

VA950, BNE-SYD lunch service. Choice of some sort of salad with optional chicken or this pork belly. One of the better meals I’ve had on domestic flight, at least in memory. Overcooked broccoli could’ve been discarded with no loss to the meal.
