twinaisle, would VA467 departing PER to BNE at 1040 offer breakfast or lunch in business and what’s the likelihood of a choice being gluten-free.

It would be a lunch/dinner service for food. It depends on when you're flying as the current cycle will remain until February. Both meals for the current cycle contain gluten. I would say to byo something for that duration/stock up in the lounge.

MEL-PER yesterday choice between vege frittata or scrambled eggs, beans and bacon. Went with the bacon, pretty good overall.

Service was really good! The CSM remembered me from some of my SYD-MEL commutes, so it was off to a good start

Recently, last week I flew PER SYD business class…service and food 10/10..
A few days later I flew BNE PER business class….rating 1/10. No where near the same level of service, no offerings extra on this extra hours flight like the one to SYD, lunch chicken dish was SO salty just could not eat it…absolutely awful! Inedible. Noticed other pax did not eat theirs. Nothing else offered, had to ask for water, coffee etc. it was a paid for flight ! Quite annoyed as I’ve been Platinum but now Gold. Umm maybe have to try QF.

I’ve had hit and miss service on both airlines recently. I’m preferring Virgin these days domestically for price and value.

Cold chicken or cold pasta salad were the options. Chicken was great and pasta looked pretty good too. Not sure what the deal was with the empty bowl. I miss the piece of chocolate that used to be included.

Very good unobtrusive and attentive service.

All my flights the food has been fine to good, pretty consistent.

The majority of flights have also had good service. But as you found, there are the odd bad-apples. If you fly very frequently and happen to get a couple in a row it can be challenging.

If you get the quadruple whammy - poor crew, no IFE, no wifi, and miss out on your meal choice - it can be anything but wonderful.

Had a chicken and mushroom pasta on the 9:30pm from Sydney to Brisbane. Was presented quite well and very tasty. No photo as my camera is shocking.

Mrs QF WP and I flew BNE/ADL this morning, great service from Amelia who knew both the VA pilots I mentioned (her husband is a VA FO).

The choice between veggie frittata or scrambled eggs, beans and bacon, so we had one of each:





Both meals were delicious, served with multiple refills of tea and sparkling water. The salt and pepper sachets were put to good use.

Dinner last night was a choice between honey lemon pork, or pasta with creamy mushroom sauce and optional chicken.

Errr…. not one of the better dishes. Actually I’d say it’s a fail. If you had said the pork was chicken I would have believed you! But ok, pork it was, but it was a bit chewy and verging on gristly. The sides of rice with bits was dry, and the bak choy was over cooked and tasteless.

Service was good. CSM sent main cabin pax to rear WC. New configuration… it felt really really tight, even up front

March 2025 | VA882 | SYD to MEL

Quick weekend getaway. I arrived at the gate early and boarding was a little delayed but I got to enjoy the entertainment from the gate opposite, where a guy showed up to board without having checked in yet! I suspect he arrived after check-in closed and thought he'd play dumb / try his luck and despite the gate agent telling him multiple times "Sir this is an airplane, not a bus!" they somehow managed to check him in and let him board at the last minute.

Eventually we boarded and a PDB of still water or sparkline wine was offered. Being on an extended "Dry February" I went with water.



We took off a little late due to late arrival of the captain from an incoming flight but made up some time in the air and arrived in Melbourne around 15 minutes late. Options for dinner tonight were yellow curry chicken with rice and vegetables or schnitzel with potato wedges, vegetables and boscaiola sauce. I chose the schnitzel with sparkling water and a Coke Zero to drink. Orders were taken 1AC, 2AC, 1DF, 2DF and everyone got their first choice with at least one person declining a meal.

I wasn't expecting a crispy schnitzel (and certainly didn't receive one!) but it was nonetheless an enjoyable meal and a decent portion size. Vegetables were nothing special, the potato wedges were better with a sprinkle of salt added. Although many here (myself included) had a laugh at the old chocolate square, now that it's gone I do miss it! #bringbackthechocolatesquare

Good, attentive service from CM Joaquín on this short flight, offering top ups and asking if we wanted anything else when clearing trays.
