Re: Virgin Australia Codeshare with Hawaiian Airlines - Status Credit Earn?

As i understand it booking on the codeshare will earn you the same ... SCs as if VA themselves had flown the route.
I hope that someone from Velocity/Virgin can clarify this?

Is it a case of -

NO STATUS CREDITS
on Hawaiian flights, regardless of which code is booked VA or HA

OR

STATUS CREDITS EARNT if booked on the VA code, but NOT on the HA code (and if so, is the [extended] double status credit offer for VA flights, applicable to these VA codeshare services)

???

Sorry to say that at this stage there is no SC earn on either VA or HA metal.
Velocity Points only.

This is quite disappointing. Back to the drawing board for my Hawaii trip then... What i the point of a codeshare other than to earn points I guess...

This is going to make things very confusing for those of us used to how QF and oneworld do things: marketing code determines earn rate, which in my mind is what makes the most sense. :(

What about VA codes on DL or NZ metal? Does this mean we earn points at the lower DL/NZ rate?

SC with HA have been offered prioir to the start of this thread; http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/virgin-australia-velocity/j-to-hawaii-39297.html

Only problem was Virgin advertised this and you could not book on their website until I highlighted the problem.

Yes you have been able to get SCs for a while when booking the VA flight number (be it via phone or whatever, the change is that now it does not matter whether you book with Virgin or HA, you get SCs regardless, I had already mentioned this in that thread you linked back in May, this is an update for the information above that is now out of date.

No that is not correct. SC earn also applied with the HA flight number back in May, not just now. When we booked J HA flights back in May the SC earn rate for partner airline HA was in the earn table and at the same rate as VA.

Yes I know it did, I posted the info in that very thread that it was the case and you then posted the same info three posts later, this thread update is correcting earlier info that is now out of date, thats all! There has been a change since the above info was posted, no issue that it was changed before last month ;). Its HNL btw not HON which is Howes in mainland USA, not a HA dest.

Roger that, you did indeed. I was a bull out of a gate onto your post so didn't realise you were just updating this old thread. HNL it is as well, I bet you had to look up the IATA location code for Howes though? ha ha. (joke). Ashame Virgin advertised this back in May but you couldn't book it on their website then.
