Virgin Australia Discover Gold (Status Match)

Congrats on Double Platinum!
Platinum status from Switcheroo has finally come through, no chasing up required however i abstained given I'd just be asking the same questions that were already answered here.
Likewise here.. seems like they may have updated them all in bulk.

Card expiry is 5th Feb 2024 so I am getting a little more then 12 months.

800 credits and 8 sectors remaining to renew (I only completed the exact 200 during offer window).

Yay same here. Platinum is now reflected. Finally! :D

Claiming the HH Diamond shortly.

Mmmm...mine still showing Gold!

yes, my platinum came through too (although the e-card doesn’t actually say Platinum on it anywhere ) 😊 but with a review date of yesterday. So do I call and try and get it backdated to the former review date and credit the number of flights done in the meantime towards retaining platinum.? Or wouldnt it be worth the hassle?

Yep - I’ve been upgraded now, too! Review date of 22nd Jan 2024, with expiry (soft landing) on the 5th Feb 2024, if I don’t make it.

Cheers,
Matt.

Just curious. Do we automatically get the physical card/bag tags? Or is it something to request if we prefer to have those?

From memory, when I completed the Discover Gold status match in March 2021 I didn't get the box and dice set ... until later that year when I requalified for the next year in my own right.

Has anyone who is supposed to get Platinum status not got it yet? I had a review date of 16 Dec and still gold. Also, my account is not showing that my status is 'being reviewed' anymore.

I called VA and they just said 'you need to wait 8 weeks from the 16th of Dec'.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

That sounds a bit sus to me. Up to 8 weeks for the physical card and bag tags sounds feasible, but not for the actual status itself. What is showing as your virtual card in the Velocity app?

Still showing as gold with an expiry of 30 Dec 2023. Just got off the phone and they said that I am platinum, but I need to wait for 8 weeks till the status to show on my VA app and account - which definitely sounds sus to me.

Plenty of weird things have been happening since the famous system upgrades (such as the stuff ups with Coles status credits). Annoying, but as long as you get platinum rights where it matters (e.g. free access to Economy X seating, bonus velocity points on fares) then I guess it can be lived with.

From memory, VA Discover Gold in 2021, status reflected immediately on the app and website. Got the welcome kit in about 3-4 weeks.

Hi all. Apologies if this question has been asked already. With the current DSC promo Virgin are running - if you are approved for the Discover Gold match, presumably one could earn the 80 status credits required via DSC? I was looking for any fine print that would exclude any SC earnt via promotions like DSC but couldn't see any - but wondered if anyone has done it before!

Yes, the DSC offer is still valid.

It would likely be too complex to try and apply standard status credits in differing scenarios.

I sent an e-mail to Platinum, noting that with Plat, the review date was (I think) 22 Jan, although the Gold review date was about 17 Dec. And I flew a lot in between those dates. So I asked if my Plat review date might be the 17 Dec or the flights in between might be counted towards Plat renewal.

Got a reply after a day (good response time!), individually written, saying new review date was "system generated" and couldn't be put back. So, no.

Didn't address my alternative request, so I replied noting this and again asking if the flights mid Dec- Mid Jan might be credited/transferred etc to the current Plat year.

No reply to that one in a week :) . I may have done my dash.
