Any change to Tiger merging with someone is pointless as it will only lead in increased costs.

PS is very vocal at the moment in regards to Tiger=Leisure only. Think back to when Tiger started and it’s route map in the first two years, vs where they are now. They have essentially moved from Holiday routes to golden triangle.

There was a comment yesterday that PS is looking at increasing Golden triangle flying for VA. This would be gained by using some of Tiger’s Sydney slots.
SYD-Perth, Coffs, Bne cutback, Mel cutback.
Bring back routes like Melbourne to Mackay, Rocky, Alice, Increase Cairns, Launceston.

Tiger should have opened a Gold Coast base all those years ago instead of Sydney. Target market.

How long has Happy Hour (free booze and soft drink) Mon-Fri 5-7pm been gone for?

Didn’t think it cost that much considering they poor out of the bottle not handing out bottles and cans.

I don't think it has. I was on a flight from Canberra last night that left at 7:05pm and when someone asked about getting a beer he was told there wasn't any on board because this flight left just after the Happy Hour cut-off. If we'd been scheduled at 6:55pm there would have been beer available.

Which route were you flying?
Was on BNE-MEL on Friday and was definitely still offered.

Still going:

No matter where you’re going or how long your flight is, we’ll always make sure you’re fed and watered.

Complimentary tea, coffee, juice and water is available on all Virgin Australia flights, and if you’re scheduled to depart between 5 - 7pm Monday to Friday, we’ll also offer you a free beer, wine or soft drink when flying domestically^. ...

10. No mention of loyalty in PS speech - buying back Velocity is just correcting a previous stupid mistake, but I though PS might have had more to say about loyalty contributing to the business? Due to their dysfunctional ownership structure their loyalty scheme is also totally compromised in that they can't grow up and wear big pants and join an alliance - although maybe Skyteam in the more achievable of the two remainng choices, obviously in a perfect world in SQ were committed to VA then joining Star Alliance would be a good option. Without an alliance - they are asking Velocity to compete with the QFF/OneWorld loyalty scheme with one arm tied behind their back, they are just not going to move people without an alliance.

Problem is in that "perfect world" in regards to SQ, VA/Borghetti/Other Shareholders have ticked off NZ by that point. Especially with the reported allegations in the paper against NZ from other shareholders and "allies" of JB (e.g the alleged demands from NZ to close down VA-i, remove DL as a partner and feed everything into NZ and their long time enemy UA).

Also, in regards to the Star Alliance, VA were always facing a veto from hostile enemy UA (on top of the veto from NZ) on the back of their long-term partnership with DL. SkyTeam was pretty much VA's only choice available to them for a long time now.
