Virgin Australia flights to Doha now on sale

Has anyone booked Virgin Economy Reward seats and know what the baggage allowance is? I'm looking to book Sydney to Paris.
Qatar flight number means Qatar allowance applies. In economy this should be 30kg per person (no limit on pieces) but do note that whilst oneworld status adds to this Velocity status does not.

There are a number of Economy classes though - Classic, Convenience and Comfort, which are not all 30kg allowance

Partner Reward seats don’t match to any of those you’ve listed hence the 30kg in economy applies. I’ve done a few reward seats recently on QR metal but booked via VA and had the 30kg.

What's the best way to check once I've bought the ticket? Is the 30kg specified on the ticket/confirmation?

I just spoke to someone at Virgin and they told me it was 23kg...

This is what I see when I check my QR booking for what I booked through VA. It’s the same for all 4 flights.

VA ticket will confirm. I had some last year that were 30kg but if more recent reports are suggesting 25kg then that’s a downgrade.

If I fly Virgin (operated by QR) and then connect to a TK flight, do you think they would check my bag all the way through? It would be an Aeroplan award all on one ticket. I can't seem to find how interlined work on wet leases. I can see VA and TK do not interlined but QR and TK do.

One other question, not sure if @AFF Editor has covered this elsewhere but I can't seem to find it. The article mentioned that it is likely to be VA food and amenities. That would be a serious downgrade from QR. Any clarification on this?

Not according to the QR website when I looked at the seat maps and the q-suite logo was not attached to the VA flight
According to VA press release
[3] Virgin Australia’s flights will all include the QSuite configuration by default. The aircraft will only switch to a non-QSuite fitted aircraft if operationally required.

Unless something has changed you cant get the seatmap, you need to call for seat reservations.

I expect that "QSuite" is a Qatar trademark. I doubt VA are going to refer to it as "QSuite", just a business class seat.

I did a dummy booking on the QR website which showed the VA flight. I trust that more than I trust a press release

I would trust a company's legal/communications department that issues these statements over the outsourced IT development companies these companies uses the build the website. A false statement carries reputation or legal risk but a website can be "buggy".

Knowing how developers work (myself being one) the logic behind that icon won't be anything more than a operator code + aircraft subtype (77P/77N) check. Of course VA being the operator code means the QSuite icon won't show up and VA woulnd't necessarily use QR's internal coding for the aircraft type because it doesn't need to distingusih between mutiple variants of 777.

By the book, the answer is no because it is a VA flight and VA doesn’t interline with TK. It also answers your second question because with a wet lease, all of the handling, baggage, catering, amenities etc is the responsibility of the lessee, unless it’s included in the agreement.

The Finnair wet lease flights for QF have QF catering, bedding, ammenities and IFE. Everything on the ground including check in and baggage is identical to QF metal flights.

That said, the VA/QR lease agreement isn’t typical and is effectively a full QR flight. I think everything will be the same as QR, except the bags at DOH - that is an interesting question. There will be differences though, non-QR oneworld status won’t be recognised.
