Virgin Australia Lounge Adelaide so sad so basic

Wraps have appeared.
Probably only after 12noon.
In the SYD lounge (which, incidentally, markets itself as the “Virgin Australia Lounge”, not the “Virgin Australia Business Lounge” as per the title of your post) the wraps appeared on Sunday at 10:30am, immediately after the breakfast food was cleared.

Strange that it’s different in Adelaide.

In my experience, almost everything is different in the Adelaide lounge. Apart from the meagre food offerings, there is no self-pour wine and the measures poured by the bar staff are very small. It's the worst VA lounge I've been to. Without a doubt, the best is the Gold Coast, IMO.

Yeah, Adelaide is different. ;)

The seafood buffet with Lobster and Prawns comes out around 2PM while high tea is served from 3PM, very nice, might wake up from my dreams now given it’s an airline lounge run by venture capitalists.

Doncha worry! MEL is fast approaching ADL by the sounds of it.

My last visit they even got rid of flute and wine glasses… so just tumblers for all drinks.

The lounge itself is actually super nice, just the food sucks - but that's not an Adelaide specific problem, all VA lounges have the most basic slop (though still beats qantas flagship sydney international business lounge).

I also don't know what's happened with the big mugs for coffee, they seem to have disappeared from all VA lounges, very sad because I really liked them.

You sure about the food all being bad across the network? I thought VA was putting in a lot more effort in putting up some good food, although from what I saw it was usually inconsistent or "pop-up" style (depending on your point of view :)), like one day it's burgers, another day it's dumplings, then another is katsu chicken, etc. etc.

To give some weird counterbalance, the last time I was in ADL Qantas Club, the hot option was loaded baked potatoes (i.e. you grab a baked potato and you load it up yourself, and there wasn't a whole lot to load it up with), with other times maybe party pies. I know that's not relevant, but you said it's not an Adelaide thing..... maybe it is? 😅

Well we can only hope the hot dogs aren’t thawing out somewhere in hiding ready to make a reappearance….

I wouldn't say generally bad ...but I will agree with basic.

As indicated, options are very limited. The toastie ingredients no longer have a protein option available.

I do not bother with the cough wines.

That was sooooo 2023/early 2024! 🤣🤣

All the salad bowls are gone, replaced by just two or three big bowls of carbs (rice, potato and I think pasta). The ‘toastie station’ - I couldn’t find the toaster at MEL! - only had tasteless cheese, and tomato slices. The hot dish was a thai curry, but had the consistency of tea. Not even soup!

The wraps, once bursting with chicken, or ham… now ‘spiced potato’, in a wrap. Or brown/grey mulched tuna.

The sausages have disappeared from the breakfast buffet in the CBR lounge. Replaced by some sort of Italian-style baked beans.

Scrambled eggs and beans, or the pancake machine. Or toast.

Still a great view, pleasant staff and generally not crowded.
