Virgin Australia Lounge Adelaide so sad so basic

Scrambled eggs and beans, or the pancake machine. Or toast.
About the same offering as the Qantas Club, except QP has normal baked beans, in which I'd prefer the VA sort if "Italian-style" means a richer tomato sauce and/or different beans mixed in, e.g. borlotti beans.

Insert age old joke to comment on the wisdom of supplying eggs and beans........

My go-to when I'm in a VA lounge for breakfast is usually eggs on toast, plus fruit with yoghurt (I think they also usually have some muesli or Bircher muesli available). Of course, thank goodness for the coffee service.

though still beats qantas flagship sydney international business lounge
Really? Perhaps you meant the Melbourne lounge? In any case it's not "flagship" in any sense, so I'm not sure where you're coming from.

However, I do sometimes prefer to hang out at the SYD J lounge rather than the F lounge. Sure the views (and furniture) are better in the F lounge, but the attitude of some of the staff and the meagre pours really put me off. At least in the J lounge you can decide for yourself exactly how much food and drink you will consume (and unlike in the VA ADL lounge).

In the Adelaide lounge today - the food offering ain’t terrible. Wraps (chicken and falafel), salads, a hot rice dish, hot stew dish, vegetable soup, toasties, cheese/biscuits, hot cross buns and chocolate eggs as well as the usual cake.

Coffee was made quickly and tasted good. No self serve wine at the moment but I have seen ice buckets with wine come out later in the evening.

I generally much prefer Adelaide over the mess that is Melbourne’s lounge but maybe it’s just me.

Adelaide did used to have great little packets of snack chips and nuts etc that you could help yourself to. I saw a lady one day putting nearly every single packet of chips into her handbag. That’s why we can’t have nice things, I suppose. These days nuts are behind the counter and chips are from a party bag poured into a jar.

I do not bother with the cough wines.

More for everyone else then. :D

No issue from me ever for wines in Virgin lounges. Admittedly, we only drink white or sparkling, cannot comment on Red wine options.

I long for the days when evening flights had free wine and snacks on Virgin as Qantas still does, before the Bain nickel and diming cut in, so what the lounge offers is just fine. We seldom have more than 15-20 mins in there so all good.

As to food, never had any complaints. We use Adelaide lounge often and I like it. Very nice to have some tarmac views.

Those seeking Michelin rated Restaurants, need to head downtown, and drop $150 a head, and not expect it at free airport lounges. 😊

Had some great and healthy chicken wraps last week. No idea what lounges are stated not to have those.

The ongoing Bain nickel and diming re tiny window of opening hours of the Sydney Lounge kerb entry is my biggest gripe with lounges. It is something time saving, and classy, and convenient that they have OVER Qantas and of course barely use it.
