Commonality in fleet? The cynic in me sees it as an opportunity to have 737s operated by a cheaper crew.......

Hope they will have the new seats...4 737 MAX 8’s also arriving in February next year.
Commonality in fleet?
I would expect some more to convert as the MAX10 looks set to be delayed by 6-12 months, which pushes that order into 2024.4 737 MAX 8’s also arriving in February next year.
Time is running out. I understand there is a Dec 2022 legacy deadline beyond which any new aircraft design needs to have modern systems not found on the MX10No chance the -10 will be on schedule
I think there's a myriad of reasons why a -700 subfleet in WA makes a lot of sense.Sure, but then crew them with mainline crew (as per the two existing 700s).
According to the article they will be flown by VARA
I suspect the rumoured ex-KLM 73Gs are to be reconfigured in a all-Y layout for VARA ops.Sure, but then crew them with mainline crew (as per the two existing 700s).

If A320s are staying for charter ops (and I think they will for a long time) then why not put J on the 73G aircraft?I suspect the rumoured ex-KLM 73Gs are to be reconfigured in a all-Y layout for VARA ops.
Another question is whether the 2 existing 73Gs in the VA mainline fleet may get transferred across to VARA (and subsequently reconfigured into all-Y).
At least the 737 MAX 8's have a J cabin.4 737 MAX 8’s also arriving in February next year.
Unless they wish to cede the vast majority of the FIFO market to Qantas and Alliance, there is no such world in which VARA's A320 fleet is retired. Quite the opposite has occurred in recent months and Qantas have been expanding their fleet too.VARA should retire its F100 and A320s
Which doesn't mean much, considering the VA ones do....it's not hard. And you could hope the cabin will be shuffled a little bit anyway to supply Economy X.The KLM 700 don't have J class in them
