Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

I would get very annoyed if the planes we picked get downgraded to 737.

From PER? I’m flying PER/MEL weekly at the moment and equipment hasn’t changed from my scheduled A330 on any of my flights for the last 3 months. I am on the popular timed business flights.

I did hear in the early part of the year the reliability was less with all the issues all the airlines were having with forced covid isolation. But recently no issue for me.

Looks like some 737-700s in VA will have a J cabin, but yeah, it will be hard to keep chasing up to see which 737-700 series a flyer, will be on.
Into Oct VA has $549 ADL - BNE, flights, but have to go deep into the fares details to see if its the one with a J cabin type 737-700 a person is on.
They are still using the F100 without a J cabin into Oct even.
Re: where their 2nd call center, is located, I haven't had the need to call them, but the goss on here is its there.
If I have to book a "comfort seat booking" then I will have to phone them up and then ask where they are located, to write down date and time and details of call.
73G - All Economy
73W - 2-class (VH-VBY and VH-VBZ ).

.I was talking to a friend over the weekend and she said she was flying Virgin between Perth and Cairns in Feb 2023 in business class. . I mentioned the aircraft could be changed to 700 series and we checked her booking there and then. Yes it's gone to a 700 series yet no business class. My issue is Virgin don't seem to be telling passengers booked in business of the change. I did a dummy booking and it says business class not available.

So what are the plans for these 737-800's with no J class

Given it seems VA is very poor at communicating the changes what are the plans to refit them with J ?

At least they could block the middle seat and make it like Euro J .......

All 800s have J class.

As stated previously, the 700s without J class will eventually go to Perth to replace VARA's F100s. Those 700s are eventually going to be rostered on FIFO runs in WA that does some RPT services ex-PER inbetween FIFO runs.

They could, but it would still lack the business class seats (,which are better than what Euro business is) and also I suspect, there would be no business class service at all as the aircraft is effectively all Y class. It has the potential to be a bit of a shambles and.lets face it 5 hours or so in the stark realisation perhaps at the gate that your seat 1A is a row of 3 with no business service or seat at all. Perhaps VA should concentrate more on retaining business pax rather than silly middle seat promotions imho.

Yes but that is of no consequence when flying between Perth and various non FIFO destinations when you have bought a business class seat on a 800 to eventually find out it's a all Y 700 and VA has not notified pax. As someone who comes from Europe I think 5 hours is quite a long flight and therefore potentially pay the higher bucks for a biz seat and service.

In reality with Perth flights, you can guarantee you will get a 800 to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Out side of that it's going to be a 700 lottery.

Does not really help though when you buy a 737 (8) advertised business ticket to find it changed to Y on a 737 (7) on departure without notification.

The goss on here? Did you read all the posts? It was a joke, just to be clear.
There is no new call centre.
It's incredible how quickly a joke it taken out of context.
An example of 'Chinese whispers' 21st century style?

<< being the pedant and did a search to see if 'Chinese whispers' is judged PC, apparently A OK >>

Also no modern day equivalent seemingly.

An update. Equipment change for my flight in April but believe it or not I actually received an e mail from Virgin to notify me!!

Gone to 700 series but after a little chat with lovely lady and have now been confirmed as re routed via MEL on both sectors with 800 and ofcourse still in business. Ok a bit longer but maybe more status credits and points and certainly quite comfortable. I still say these 700 are pesky at best!

They won't be used much after Feb/Mar 2023 for mainline thankfully.
Hopefully this is the case and they are sent packing for the intended FIFO runs.
Great you received and email at least.

I bet we are still stuck with the garbage A320’s in ADL though
Probably! Interestingly from.Peryh seems that the 700s will be doing Cairns as we know and also Tasmania. Guess could be quite busy over the weekends on non FIFO. Also indeed the 320s seem to be Perth to ADL and also Hobart. 🫣

I'm wrong. They will be using a 700 PER <> BNE

VA will be using the 700s on 'random' PER-Queensland flights (BNE, CNS, etc) through to end of March 2023. I'm speculating this will be to get the F100 crews familiarised with this aircraft.

Are there not enough intra-WA sectors to allow this to happen though, without affecting the rest of the network?
