Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

Virgin have two more Silk Air birds coming, VH-IXK and IJR, will be retiring two A320 and three of the older 800s in the VUx block. 6 more Maxes are also expected.
I'm guessing VUI and VUJ will be leaving given they're the only two with the original Live2Air seats from the Virgin Blue days that haven't been reconfigured yet.

So at least a negative of one 737/A320 unit in the combined VA(RA) group, taking into consideration the 737-8 delays (and not counting the first 2 or 3 VARA E190s due for late Q3/early Q4 2025).

I assume the two Silkair coming are 9V-MGC/D. Both have left the fleet and are in KUL. And both have the same lessor being Standard Chartered/Pembroke who lease the A320s to Virgin, a familiar partner.

The other two lessors for the other Silkair -800s VA has no dealings with prior so it seems unlikely the other 5 will end up at Virgin, which would be a shame as they seem to be good aircraft.

They might be better off at this point upping the order with the E2s, or finding more mid life -700s. It all takes time however, lead in for any new mid life 737s would probably be 1-2 years before they entered service if they went looking today.

Hoping they can get these 737s from Qatar.

Saw a 737M flying over yesterday, much more quiet than the 800s and 700s, that's very good for me living close to the airport.
