Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Yeah that's not the new fitout is it.

I was on new fitout last week and the row 3 we were in def had less leg room than current old style.
Still ample room, just little less.

Which is technically the refit (as it has the new seats) , though they need to modify the economy seating in line with the new layout and install the divider.

When are the dividers expected on the ex Silk? VA have had them now for age and i think it needs the divider.

I actually don’t mind the SilkAir cloth seats also down the back. Never been a fan of the leather especially long haul.

Same story for the MAX and the recent refurbished planes. I don't recall anyone saying the new divider has began the rollout stage. If they have, then I'm wrong.

Well with all the gimmicks that VA do it would be nice for a change, if they just got on with it!! 🫤

Flew on VUO today with the extra row and new seats. The new seats themselves are ok. Flew MEL-BNE Which would have been tolerable except for sitting on the tarmac for near two hours because a rain storm was forecast and the ground crew didnt want / werent allowed out. ( legit the tarmac was dry and we sat). That wasn't VA fault but seriously the spacing in row 11 is terrible. I felt so cramped and claustrophobic id rate as possibly the worst configuration 737 ive flown on. Also the lack of differentiation between the business and economy cabin by way of a divider is really quite sad. It needs something there for the fares charged. The business seats themselves actually looked pretty decent Also just FYI row 10 now has no window and 11 half a window forward of you

It is beyond me frankly, as to why they just don't get on with it and get the dividers in. Seems to me VA are like the former Russia..."maybe tomorrow but not today"..just what is their issue in getting this done? How long would it take? Have they been sourced yet? Who is fitting? Why is it all so hard?

It’s these types of executions that makes me wonder about VA. This half hearted executions screams budget. The fact that brand new aircraft are also arriving without Wi-fi (only one of three maxes have it) also is poor execution.

Over in QF land, both new a220s have wifi humps and I bet all money in the world they have dividers between business and economy.

Yep..could not agree more.. I also did not know that only 1 on 3 of the max has wi fi. There they are saying Platinum with free WiFi fi blah blah and they can't even provide it!! 🫣
