Mrsdrron's year ends at the end of this month as well. She got a little purple packet in the mail today but it did not contain a new card.A few pieces of thick paper telling her the benefits of platinum status but also 1 free J class upgrade certificate if booking a flexi fare with the use by date of August 2013.suggests a soft landing but doesn't state it.But on her account a new bonus confirmed complimentary upgrade has appeared.
They really have been kind.On one flight after boarding the FA moved her to a J seat and she was credited with J SCs and points.Really cant complain but we just dont fly enough domestically to keep plat.

Status Run! (I have booked one for QF, it is all quite scary, never done one before...I feel dirty for doing it!)

If anyone is flying SYD or MEL to PER I think DJ is definitely worth it, with the upgrades from a flexi fare. For me I find them better than QF domestically, and the four comp upgrades are excellent. I'll be sticking with them next year.

I got status match recently and I too see the one comp upgrade on my account after login. VA has certainly impressed me. 32 kg luggage was a surprise. (QF is 23 kg.)

As a gold status, I'm on my first flight next week and look forward to check in, SYD lounge and services. I didn't book a flexi fare so won't be using the upgrade.

For a QF Gold travelling in Y, the allowance is actually 46kg for domestic (2x23kg) and most international, with America being 69kg (3x23kg).

VA's Gold allowance is 32kg domestically and on short haul int'l, an extra bag to the USA, and an extra 15kg (ie. 38kg for a Y fare) to VA long-haul destinations. :)

That's my mistake...I'd believed domestic had dropped to a single bag for checked baggage. That wouldn't apply for Jetstar, would it?

Unfortunately not - only on QF-operated flights. However, as QF Gold you do qualify for a free baggage allowance on AA, and BA have recently announced additional baggage allowances on their flights for pax with QF status... doesn't help you with JQ though! :)

Note that VA have the ice system too, so it's 1 bag only.

Received in mail the gold kit. Nice. Will flash it in lounge tomorrow evening.
