Well, jumped onto one of QF's bargain flights from BNE-CNS-YUL ; YUL-SYD-BNE in late May. $190 one way & $199 the other. Taking a flight on a 717 from CNS-YUL will be like old times too :P

Nice cooler and dry weather at Uluru and better chance to maybe climb it for the last time as well. Now to sniff out a hotel deal at Yulara - *as if!*

I thought the UA code was/will be scrapped due to the Delta codeshare.

Not sure. Sounds right.

There's a lot of traffic flying to Australia that doesn't arrive by Qantas, or have a "walkabout" type Australia visit pass... so the benefits of DJ opening up that route are high. I wonder if they'll eventually add DRW/PER/CNS or even BNE sectors as well.

Hi there

Usually the prices for accomodation at the rock are pretty steep.

Just booked the lost camel for 2 nights @ $22 a night. (usually $220 a night seems they left off a zero)

Sorry for being a smart a## .... that's awfully cheap for fares to YUL!

For reference the airport at Uluru/Yulara/Ayers Rock has a three letter IATA code of AYQ.

or have a "walkabout" type Australia visit pass...

DJ actually have a little known about Airpass as answer to the "walkabout" type pass, once added AYQ will be a nice addition to the product.

Yep. Also saw it on the website. Very tempted to go with the $129 DJ fares until my better half has stopped me from going

ISTR that it used to carry the code YUL not AYQ (c. December 1990 when i last flew there!).

Which travel website was this deal on?

Virgin has now dropped the rate to $129

The fare from ADL to ASP during the current sale it is $229 via SYD. A long distance - and a high price IMHO.

It's far cheaper to fly Tiger from ADL to ASP for $69, rent a car at ASP then drive to Yulara. You need a car in Yulara anyway and it's cheaper to rent cars in ASP than at the resort. Though admittedly, the drive is quite long.

Anyway, I guess it's good to see DJ adding some competition to the Centre. It pulled its flights from ADL to ASP years ago.

On another route, it has been interesting watching activity ADL <=> HBA. JQ pioneered non-stop flights and was later joined by DJ. JQ then pulled out. TT then arrived and it was not long before DF canned the route. So now it's TT only. I guess there's only room for one company flying ADL <=> HBA and it requires a super-discount model to make it work.
