Virgin 'business seats' sold as economy

As an update to this, for the return flight I asked if there were any seats in row 1 or 2 available, they said yes and changed us to them. Easy. Just a bad run of painful staff the first time I imagine.

An assumption yes; however their mannerisms were far from showing familiarity in the surroundings.....

okie, I understand your frustration at the issue, but it may lessen your anguish if you did not suffer such assumptions. "Their mannerisms were far from showing familiarity in the surroundings"?? Last time I flew J domestically I stuffed around for ages trying to work out if there was an IFE screen - because I am used to full lay-flat international. I would have looked like it was my first flight. And I certainly don't do things like attach status tags to my carry-on - it looks like something a teenager should have on a train :)

good outcome :)

I've do around a dozen flights a year and I've not even close to Platinum... that was more in reply to WP's = seats.

Hard to describe, would be insane if they were though - that glazed, unsure look, unfamiliar with what is going on, no real process or rhythm to what they're doing. Hard to believe someone who must do a mountain of flying could be so confused.

It's interesting they've made the flight business; in general it's a 1 gate airport so no queue issue, no lounge. The reverse flight you'll get premium entry + lounge but no drinks as pre 11am. For a < 2 hrs flight a hard sell unless someone has a lot of money or points laying around. 601 miles too, so it's just into the second tier of cost!

At least if ever need to upgrade the availability will be there.

Looks like MEL-LST as well. Interesting move.

Have flown this route in the past and benefited from row 1&2 economy. The flights are usually only 45 mins, and they don't even offer hot drinks as there isn't time.
Wonder what kind of service they would offer in business and who would even pay for it?

Qantas offer hot drinks on this route on 717 and Q400 flights... guess slightly smaller planes.
