ON a recent Virgin flight I found that my flight had been cancelled. Upon entering the lounge I spoke to the guy at the desk who informed me that it was because there was no flight crew due to ongoing disputes. It was only to do with aircrew?? Anyone else experienced similar comments?

Virgin Blue? Virgin Atlantic? Another carrier in the loose knit community of Virgin affiliations?

I believe Virgin Blue are going through EBA type discussions with their pilots and FA's. But I knew nothing about industrial action being taken.

Hmmm. Like a lot of information given by "staff" at airports, I'm not sure that his/her information is credible. (and yes, I realise that my anonymous postings on a bulletin board should be read with the same amount of credibility!)

Virgin Blue, and yes, credible info...hmmmm who knows, seemed confident though, and it certainly wasn't the first flight, maybe they (union etc) have a strategy of keeping it under the radar for the moment???

agree..never believe everything an airport satffer says but DJ are short of flight crew which has been in the news clips recently..calling them in on 1K per day O/t...they have expanded and as they have new aircraft type arriving its reasonable to expect a number are off being type accredited on those aircaft...when you need to run tight costs occasionally these things are going to happens.
As for any industrial stuff is is also known that both DJ flight and cabin crew have resoundingly rejected their new EBAs.
The problem DJ are going to face is their Crew know how much profit is being made and know they get considerably less than QF...this was OK to get a job but human nature being what it is they obviously rekon they shud be a lot more...all this with aworld wide shortage of tech crew puts LCCs (rhose not paying legacy carrier rates) in a tight spot
