Hi all,

Could someone enlighten me as to why I do not have the ability to select exit row seats on an upcoming flight (MEL-NTL on Mar 21) which I have already booked, yet if I try and book another ticket on the same flight, I can? Images attached:

P.S. If anyone can explain to me how to post images properly, that would be appreciated!

Ineligible pax on the ticket? kids under 15? someone requiring special assistance?

Based on 4 pax, going to take a punt that there are children on the booking and therefore can not sit in the exit row.

If you are comfortable the ground staff at check in could spilt your group/family and have the child(ren) in row 12 and have adults in the exit row if seats still available.

Thanks. There are four adults, but there is an infant. All makes sense now! I'm hoping the ground staff will give at least me an exit row seat!

Are you saying they won't split us up and give only me an exit row seat? Certainly hope they will!

If you get a exit row the rest of your party ( with the INF) would have to sit a few rows away due to only selected rows have 4 oxygen masks

Really? As you can see from the images above, we are currently sitting in row 12, the row in front of the exit row - there was no restriction when seats were selected.

AFAIK all 737s are fitted with 4 oxy masks in each row though I'm not 100% sure...

Depends on the airline, some have them only at bulkheads, some have extras on port or starboard but not both, some have alternating rows with extras.

all VA 737 have 4 x masks in each Pasenger service unit above, infants cannot seat in the exit rows.
Also if there is 2 infants in one block of seats , eg abc, there cannot be infants in the same block immediately in front or behind.
Infants can sit in front or behind of the emergency exits

Would someone really consider sitting with an infant in an exit row? I've seen drunk old men sitting in them who would have no hope of hefting the door, young teen-agish looking girls, plenty of headphone-zombies who don't look up from their machine when the cabin crew are doing the briefing 'excuse me sir. Sir? Sir? I need you to listen.' (makes me feel like saying "just boot them to row 30, now").

They should have a (unpublished) policy of only allowing the sky marshals with the guns to sit there.

I stand corrected ... the VA737 700/800 have 4 per each 3 seats

The E190 have selected rows with extra masks
