Virgin fare rip off

In that case the displayed total price was $258. As per the screenshot above. That total price was supposed to be made up of $129 and $126.99, $258 is incorrect.
The argument is that the correct single total price was $258. It was the the $126.99 that was incorrect.

Try as I might I can't get $129+$126.99 to equal $258. I do not set va's fares so it is not up to me to determine if something is right or wrong. The same would apply to the majority here. I can only accept the information they provide at face value.

It might also be helpful for me to mention that the screen shot is an example of the full fare situation whereas what I actually booked was using a discount code. When they tell me the return is going to cost $X, I expect to be charged $X not some other amount.

Which was provided in the total. Pretty simple really. I don't like your chances, no matter how pedantic you want to be. :)

Again, $129 + $126.99 is not $258. The failure of your position is that $258 is not the only information provided. There is nothing to say $258 is correct no matter how pedantic you want to be.

Especially when you realise that the actual values with the discount were $116.30 +$118.29 and total of $236.99. None of which matches any advertised fare.

This is taken directly from the ACCC website.

There are laws about the way prices are displayed. Prices should be genuine and you should be able to easily see the total price of anything advertised. If multiple different prices are displayed on a product or in advertising, the business has to fix the display or sell you the item for the lowest price.

As a lower price was displayed Virgin was obligated to sell the service at that lower cost, this did not occur as Virgin chose to sell the product at the high total price.

That's the funny thing about that cute little word 'or'...

There another paragraph somewhere on the ACCC that indicates where a service should be withdrawn until the price is fixed... or something along those lines.
 
I would say that this disclaimer would be a direct result of the action of members here. I for one shot off a sternly worded email to JB on Saturday night about the issue as well as lodging an ACCC complaint.
