Virgin Happy Hour [Thursdays]

re: Happy Hour returns

A $200 J happy hour again would be a fabulous way to kick this off (god that was an exciting Friday afternoon!).

The way you have to 'sign up' to hear about it makes it sound like it won't be every day and it may not be publicly available - may only be to VFF mailing list members.

Agree with you there on the $200 J sale...

And I haven't bothered to sign-up, as I'm assuming that it's just the usual sale email sign-up... am I incorrect there on this point... is this a different/new/separate email sign-up specifically for the Happy Hour?

re: Happy Hour returns

There's more info coming soon. I'll update you on dates, times etc in the very near future. :-)

VFF, can you please make sure that in the future the reborn Happy Hour continues to reference AEST rather than AEDT? As an ex-pat banana bender I enjoy watching the confusion of idiotic southerners ranting online about VA's incompetence whilst publicly broadcasting their own.

You mean you want them to refer to "Standard" time and not "Summer" time!?!? "How un-Australian!" :p

If only those two words didn't start with the same letter, our identifiers for Australian time zones would cause much less confusion for our dear compatriots down south... Time | australia.gov.au

AEST has always been "Standard" time has it not? Gotta admit, I loved watching the rants on teh Social Mediaz from folk who don't quite understand that there are places in other time zones..

Correct, though many people (incorrectly) think the S in AEST means "Summer" during Daylight Saving time... and use AEST incorrectly when meaning AEDT...

How do you know someone's from Perth?

Don't worry, they'll tell you! :p

re: Happy Hour returns

I think the first new VA happy hour was at 5Pm last Thursday AEST, thanks to QF.

re: Happy Hour returns

It would be good to have some variation in the sectors offered.

Please also remember that we don't all live IN SYD: MEL airport is now very close to SYD in the number of monthly domestic passengers each handles.

re: Happy Hour returns

My bet is that it returns after the end of daylight savings to prevent unnecessary confusion!

Not sure why you think SYD features, given they are not based there, and previous happy hour examples were well spread as per the threads here?

I have to laugh at this statement.

Yep the northerners have everything right. It is too hot to have daylight savings.

I thought it was the cows who vetoed daylights savings in Queensland, because they'd have to get up too early :p

Happy Hour returning soon

I've suffered the daylight savings trial in Cairns. It was too hot at night. The cooling sea breeze each night still happened when the temperature conditions where correct, just that the clock show the time as an hour later than it otherwise would have been. Nature didn't change but our time relative to nature did change.

Until the arm chair experts get some experience their comments are worthless. Amazing how the smug who have no idea have to open their mouths. But then that ego centric world view probably explains why they think it's AESummerT.

Daylight savings doesn't make any sense whatsoever in the tropics, of which a large part of Queensland is. Same story with northern WA and the NT.

It's for people nearer the poles.

Precisely why I firmly support DLS in South Australia.

There's a Polish restaurant not far from me so I hope that doesn't mean I live nearer the Poles.......I don't want daylight saving :(
