Virgin has quietly extended flexible travel to 31 March 2021

I've been reluctant to book a flight with VA for February even with the status extension offer because the 'Passenger Promise' has until a few days ago only offered flexible flying until the 31 January, whereas Qantas has been advertising 31 March. The latest Sydney outbreak has made me even more cautious, but it seems that Virgin has read the mood of their customers and quietly extended the flexible flying date. It seems wise. Things are just too volatile for customers to commit to inflexible arrangements. I reckon I'll take the plunge now that flexible travel has been extended.

Or quietly rerouting them. I double checked my flights the other day only to find that my direct flights are now going via Melbourne, adding risk and an extra 3 hours each way. No email notification. Nothing.

Really? Which route? How annoying.

For us their bare minimum Tassie flying keeps getting cancelled, I was trying to burn up some credits to be thrifty but paid the price for that!

I’m in Tasmania now, came down on 19 December from Sydney. VA cancelled my direct return LST to SYD rerouting me via MEL with a night stop! As much as I love the People’s Republic, I didn’t fancy a run in with Jeroen Weimar so have a booking on JQ as a backup.

how strange. The banners on the app were still saying 31 Jan until just before I posted this thread. perhaps it’s a case of not updating all the site elements.

My family’s post-Christmas JQ flight back to Sydney from Hobart just got cancelled too. I’m glad I held back on muttering “should have flown Virgin”.

Best of luck getting back to Sydney! Hopefully things will clear up soon and flights will be reinstated.

With border closures, A business needs to run appropriately. The idea of being in business is to make money, not just run so people on a certain forum can gloat about their experiences.
This forum is fast becoming that of a lot of self entitled brats who think that the whole world revolves around them. Not specifically this thread, however generally. As soon as an airline does something the poster disagrees with BAM, all the toys get thrown from the cot and they will never fly that airline again, like their 2 flights per year is going to affect the airlines bottom line. People need to grow up and understand that if loss making routes are operated, the end result is dire.

Lost track of the amount of ppl who have stated they won't fly with virgin, then next day, won't fly with QANTAS, I don't care who you fly with, take the bloody bus for all I care, go whinge on the bus Australia forum then about how greyhound ran 20 minutes late and you will never use them again.

This forum used to be a good resource and source of information, Its slowly degenerating into a cough session for self entitled brats.
