Virgin - iPad pro told to stowe before takeoff

Hi, I am just wondering if an iPad Pro with no keyboard needs to be stowed before takeoff? I was requested to stowe as a large device, first time it’s happened on any airline. I didn’t bother arguing however looks correct.

On this Virgin webpage Use of electronics onboard the flight | Virgin Australia
it says:
“PEDs less than 1 kg which can be held in one hand with their largest dimension no greater than 25 cm”
Usually the larger iPad Pros qualify as a "larger device" even without the keyboard

What classifies as a handheld device really depends on the airline and crew I would say. On my most recent trip, I too was told by a Virgin FA to put away my iPad. However, on my connecting flight with TAP (later on in the itinerary) the flight attendant had no issue with me using my MacBook Pro during takeoff and landing. Whether there is any rhyme or reason to it I cannot say.
