Morning all, I write this sitting in the VA lounge in Perth. I had a strange experience on entry this morning. One week ago, I came to the lounge for a spot of breakfast (of which my mum gave me her velocity card as she had lounge passes expiring in the next month provided by our friends at AMEX).

Anyway the lounge entry attendant listened that she had given me her card and was happy to swipe me in. Not a problem.

Today I rock up to use the other lounge pass and was told that you cant use anyone but your own card for entry. Which is fine as I had my own lounge passes but I wanted to chew through the soon to expire passes.

Now out of curiousity, as a number of friends have got through like I did in the first instance, using their families passes (those referral bonuses aren't going to earn themselves). I assume that the family pool setup would indicate that I wasn't really taking the piss. But heres my question, is this a rule with VA to not allow it or is it a YMMV situation and depends on the lounge dragon and how they slept the night before?

The lounge pass holder must be present at the lounge. Sounds like in the first instance they bent the rules for you.

To tell you the truth I am amazed they let you in the first time not with your card! VA's lounge passes generally aren't transferable so it seems odd they allowed it.

There you go, I stand corrected.

I've heard a couple of times in the past that VA has allowed the card holder to ring up and they have been given access to a friend or relative using the passes so I was curious. By the sounds of it I got extremely lucky.

I tried to do that recently for a friend and was flatly refused.

Amazed they let you in with someone else's card. That is a direct breach of the Velocity ts and cs.
