Not worked up and the word would be precious - which I am not, jut don't fly Qantas and don't spend my time in any of the Qantas forums reading or commenting on what they are doing as it is of no consequence to myself.

What is of interest to me, is that Virgin are trying new things and whether they are copied from Qantas or Singapore Airlines or any other airline, it doesn't matter as long as the bar is being raised (excuse the pun) for those of us who fly Virgin and use their lounges.

I am glad you got a laugh - not sure at what but happy for you none the same.

LOL. My thoughts exactly.

First post in this thread. Enough said.

Thank you JohnK for reminding everyone I posted that. It was true, but just very, very recently, I have noticed change....for the better it would seem. Even the salad bar has had a revival. Hang, just yesterday I noticed baby beetroot and a selection of cold meats (well a selection of 2, but that's a step forward) and the pineapple rings have returned. All I need to see again is the Swiss cheese making a come back!

But anyway, we know VA now. Often start a good surprise then ditch it before the finale or drag it out until we grow old and die. Let's see how this one goes. Any side bets on how long it runs before the accountants realise?

Don't mind lovestotravel, he doesn't fly VA but lovestopost in every thread about them anyway.

I'll have a chance to sample the VA lounge in a couple of weeks or so. It'll be a Sunday afternoon, so traditionally I won't hold my breath, but hey I don't mind to be surprised.

I don't think you'll be remotely surprised on a Sunday arvo.
Soup and a toastie will be the plat du jour ;)

Where was that when I was at MEL? That would have hit the spot. Hopefully VA can start doing this (and others like it) more often.

Yes, a more consistency would be nice. Rather than a lucky dip of good options versus the standard soups and sangas.
Why have awesome buns on a Wednesday, but nothing to be seen on a Friday?

Thursday morning, Sydney lounge, Scrambled eggs and bacon- v.nice.

Friday evening, Melbourne lounge, hot pasta dish, but finished by 7.00pm

Keep up the good work Virgin!

Yep and this thread is typical VA fanboys
I hadn't noticed.

I have been in 2 lounges this morning and let's say the offerings are boring. People seem to be loving the toasted sandwiches though. If I have one toasted sandwich year that is my limit and I had one a couple of months ago.

Hoping the NTL lounge and BNE again later on this evening make up for it as I will be hungry.

There's no lounge in NTL JohnK
There is a bar in departures and one of the staff is well known for very generous pours though ;)

Sounds like they are slowly rolling out new/trail offering in various lounges - so we will probably see a bit of inconsistency for a while.

But it is a very positive sign! The lounge is the main place where the staff do what they can to help the VVF's so I'm happy for the lounge to get an improvement before the food on a plane.

Jut seeing something change occasionally would be nice. I'm a fairly regular user of the Perth lounge but only rarely use any others. Every visit the food offerings are exactly the same. At least there are regular changes in the QF lounge

Don't travel on a Saturday.

Got back to BNE ~6:20pm last night and most salad items had been cleared away except for some soup, ham, cheese, tomato and bread. I think Virgin is giving me a hint. Toasted sandwich anyone?

Yes, some variety would be good. The same things get borning very quickly.

Yes exactly my thoughts as well, whether its the VA Lounge or the Qantas Club (and I will leave that for others to debate) - its the same thing week-in week-out that becomes tiresome. After all - it often the most frequent flyers whom end up in the lounges the most.

I also love the theory that because its a Saturday or Sunday then our taste buds should be on holiday as well.... Its not 1948 anymore, pubs are allowed to be open after 6pm and people actually do travel and eat on weekends believe it or not...

Actually, I think it's the random change ups that make it interesting. Be it fresh Vietnamese rolls or a good pasta dish, or whatever you get, how good is that.
The staples. the ham. cheese, salads are all pretty good, so if you miss the change ups, better luck next time, and you will not starve .
Virgin is supposed to be a bit quirky, so if that is not what you want, fly QF.
And great beers, wines and coffee, (and they are good) really, what more could you need.

Sorry, a happy VA flyer here.

No, but when you are in three differnt VA lounges in once day, the toasted sanga gets old very quickly. Especially as breakfast, lunch AND dinner.

Cereal for breakfast, lunch AND dinner ??????

Reminds me of the old saying, 'Resche's, Breakfast of Champions'.

Seriously, fly QF and enjoy the continuous 'enhancements'.

At least VA seem to be making an effort, changing from a LCC.

Did seem to be making an effort.....These days it's largely lip-service.

I think this add needs to be re-written.....

The romance was back.......briefly!
