Not yet but I'm getting some interesting questions as a retiree.I'm self-employed and they knocked me back for a credit card. I only applied for the damn thing because they comped me to platinum based on my QF WP.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

Personally, I think credit cards are evil, and to pay 20+% on purchases, just to get FF points is crazy.
Which is exactly why running a balance on a FF card makes no sense. The points aren't worth the interest charges.
I'm fortunate in that I'm in a position to clear the balance every month on my FF cards, so 20+% on $0 is .. $0 in interest. The points are a very nice perk IMHO!![]()

that 50K pts can be worth up to $8000 depending on how you use the points!!
from thisI'd be very interested to know how you get $8000 value from 50,000 points.
I'm with froggerADL in that I'm interested to understand how the $8000 is obtained.from this: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-a-velocity-point-worth-28000.html#post497193
50000 pts x 17.8c = $8000+ if you believe the maths:shock:

OK. I missed that and I'll re read it when I'm properly awake in the morning. Then the maths should make sense to me. It's just a blur of numbers tonight.Have a read of the quoted thread.
Essentially $9k of flights in J for 55,000 points.
