Has anyone tried ONCI and tried to add their ff number? For some reason my itinerary isnt attached to my ff account. I can choose my seat etc but when I add my number and click continue nothing happens

I'm not sure offhand what the functionality is meant to be here - our upgrade to latest version of NewSkies last weekend may have something to do with this - will check it out. You should be able to add your PNR (itinerary reference) when you log into Velocity online or staff at the airport will be able to do it for you.

How's that for service.

This is the first time I have booked a virgin flight through work so still understanding things. The itinerary from work said that it had my ff number but when I log on, the booking isnt there. When I try and use the ref number it says that the travel agent has to make changes. I'll just checkin the old way and get them to add the number at the airport

Looking forward to the first Y+ virgin trip, need a change from Qantas

This happened to me when I booked earlier this month. Engine wouldn't add free baggage and then didn't associate my PNR to the itinerary even though it shows in manage bookings in velocityrewards.com.au (maybe there is a bug in Newskies...) Usually works flawlessly.

If you log into your velocity rewards account, go into manage bookings and then open up the booking, there is a button to add your velocity number to the booking. If you re-email yourself the itinerary after doing it will now have your velocity number on it.

Worked for me :)

After adding my VR number it wouldn't let me add free checked in baggage for VR Gold but that's not an issue if you are flying Y+.

Must be something to do with Amex travel, if i manage booking and put in the ref number it says the booking cannot be changed via the internet, please contact the Travel Agent that made this booking.

Correct, anything booked through Amex (and possibly other TA's as well) will not be able to be managed, however you can use OLCI. Also, if the booking doesn't show up it's possibly because the name is not an exact match to your Velocity account. On a recent booking Amex put my middle initial in, and as this does not appear on my Velocity account it wouldn't link. I called Amex and they called Virgin who manually linked it.

 A Velocity Gold member does not have to do anything to add free checked baggage to their booking - the fee is waived at the time the baggage is deposited.

The only possible point of confusion I can see is if your Velocity number is not associated with a booking of a Go! or Blue Saver fare and when you do OLCI it asks you to pay for the bag - but I don't believe ask for payment through OLCI yet (my check-in process for duty travel is a little different so haven't had to do this process myself)?

As others have noted, if an agent makes a booking they "own" the booking and only they can make changes or request changes to Virgin Blue in advance of travel. But as mentioned, a check-in agent or Lounge Angel will always be happy to add your Velocity number.

Fair enough that the agent owns the booking. The one slight issue I have is that I can't view my booking. If I login and go to my bookings, they are all listed with a link on the right hand side that says "view". Yet for an Amex travel booking I have, if I click that link I get a message that I can't change the booking. However, I don't want to change the booking I just want to see the details. Surely, I should be allowed to see those details?

I agree that would be preferable but computer says "no". It can only associate the booking with one entity, which is the agent up until booking (so they can get paid (indirectly)) and then to you once acquitted. Sorry but this is not going to be fixed any time soon.

I certainly appreciate that it is not an easy fix. I can also see reasons why it is this way. But once the booking has been booked and ticketed then i still think it is a problem that I can't view my booking on line. Only a minor problem but still a problem. It is certainly frustrating to be told that I can't change my booking when all I wish to do is view it.

I would compare this with a recent flight center booking I had with qantas. I was able to view that on line within minutes of walking out of the agents office and days before I paid them.

Anyway, system differences and all that. I'll shut up now. Besides I'd much rather DJ work on seating preferences. ;)

This probably doesn't help much, but if AmEx is your TA -- your bookings should be viewable in the Sabre web portal (https://www.virtuallythere.com) using the AmEx PNR. You can also register an account there to view all of your Sabre bookings I believe; personally I'd recommend getting yourself a TripIt account and managing your bookings and calendar that way. Much, much much easier! :D

Thanks for the tips. I really should admit that this wasn't a major issue for me. More a passing idea where the functionality wasn't what I expected.

I do have a Tripit account but I don't use it, mainly due to what is probably irrational fear. Instead I use a spreadsheet and My Flights iPhone app. (probably just as bad in terms of my irrational fear about Tripit)

Anyway checked in now for my return leg. Pleasantly surprised to see I'm on an E jet. :D

The issue was the booking name was slightly different to my ff card. Not the best day of flying. Morning flight was ok apart from the frozen meal. Evening flight home is delayed and lounge is shut for renovations. If I'd know that I would have flown qantas. Hosties are much better than qantas though
