Virgin to lose A330's and B777's - become mid range airline - really?

Just found out that XFD, XFH and XFJ have joined Boliviana de Aviación in 2023
'Cahill' recently released a J trip report on Boliviana using one of the ex-VA A330s. Still in VA config (reportedly minus the EconomyX branding, assuming Y was re-upholstered if that is the case).

Patrick Shea did a report where he flew on XFD.

IIRC he said he paid €900 for his economy ticket? The going rate for economy via google flights seems to be in the region of €300. The business class fare is €970.

So, putting two and two together… the €40 upgrade seems about right!

Yes, he did allude to that that plus he hadn’t bought a return flight - so probably paid the “one way” tax.

Although, you’d think he would have just bought the Biz fare anyway if that minor price differential was shown at the time of booking? 🤷‍♂️

Maybe it wasn’t? I was thinking maybe they were still loading the fares or something given it was a new equipment type?

Anyway, it was hardly ‘giving it away’, he had already paid the fare.

I think many of us have logged many hours in that aircraft. Hopefully in our lifetimes we will get to experience Virgin long haul again.
I never got to fly in the VA 777 but had several return trips to HKG on the A330 and many domestic Transcon trips and was one of my favourite J products.
For old times sake I wouldn’t mind booking a QR flight that is running them 🤣
