Now I know this is a total first-world issue, but can I just air my frustration with the Virgin lounge toilets? Every time I use them I don't know why but I just get the irrits. This is not about cleanliness - they are always pristine IME. It's just that they look and feel so obviously cheap...

The *look* good, but have been clearly been built with ultimate cost-cutting in mind. My frustration is the obvious cheapness of the build, they are usually the only toilets in the whole airport that are not sensor-operated, and have those grubby (and now heavily worn) little plastic buttons that are worse than any others I've seen used in public airport loos. Go to the sink - again no sensors - and use a tap that feels like it will fall off in your hand (I often find myself holding my hands waiting for the sensors to pick up my presence, before realising they won't!).

I don't know why, but they really just strike me as "done on the cheap", with a Changing Rooms-level makeover to look superficially appealing, while the actual substance is poor quality. Perhaps a disturbing metaphor for the airline more generally!

Yes - I know I should find bigger problems! But lounges are supposed to be where the airline shows off, and shouldn't be built to the same specs as a cheap suburban house.

I'd definately use their lounge bathroom, over the ones out in the general gate areas any day.

I couldnt give a **** how cheap the dunnies are :)

Always seem fine to me. And their cubicles are fully enclosed meaning I don't have to listen to whatever loud struggle is going on in the stall next door.

I don't believe the taps at the basins were 'cheap' ...

FINALLY!

Someone posts a complaint for less substantive than anything I will ever complain about. My conscience will now be clear next time I want to discuss a trivial problem. ;)

Which lounge are you referring to they don't look that cheap to me? Many first class toilets don't have sensors and I don't think it's a case of the airline cost cutting, it's probably more a preference. I've used urinals where there is a sensor and it automatically flushes before I'm done where I get a bit of back splash, I've used sinks that don't detect my hand waving, many of these experiences are irregular but bathroom that has a button/tap always works.
