Just noticed that Virgin and United seem to be offering companion fares to the US for Business Class. Could be for other destinations but that is what I was looking at and noticed it and thought Id mention it here. Fares have gone from $7k down to $5k.

These reduced J fares appear to be available for individual fares too. For the dates I need to travel in Sep Brisbane/Los Angeles return, the fare options (incl. taxes) available to me are..

Qantas $7k (or JASA $5k + 240k points)
Virgin Aust. $6332
Air NZ $5562
United $5k + fare to Sydney

I decided on Air NZ as I'm keen to try their J product. I have flown Virgin Atlantic and I do prefer the herringbone seat when travelling solo and besides, lovestotravel told me off for not choosing Air NZ when I last went to LA and I haven't forgotten
