Howdy fellow AFF'ers,

I have a 3-4hr connection in both New Zealand (AKL) and South Korea (ICN) on two separate occasions next week. Will I need any kind of visa etc or because it is a short stop I will be ok?

Thanks in advance.

Two things I can see would affect the answer...

1. Are these true "transits"? Are you travelling on one ticket and checked all the way through?

2. Nationality. In some countries SOME nationalities require transit visas....

If you are an Aussie then those questions are irrelevant. You can transit or enter those countries without hindrance.

Yep Australian Nationality & Passport.

Yes also all on one ticket.

So I shouldn't need to worry about anything?

As an Australian citizen you don't need a visa to enter either New Zealand or Sth Korea so no visa needed for a transit stop.

And in May we overnighted in Incheon without need for a visa.

That's all I've ever done in Korea! I will have to actually VISIT the place some day!

I realise its a bit off topic, but I can confirm as an Australian you dont need a visa

I just got back from a 10 day solo visit to Seoul for no other reason except I havent been there and needed some place to go to get lost in my thoughts (I do this often)

it was fantastic, I highly recommend it
as far as Asian countries go, its similar to Japan, but a little more diverse as far as influences to their culture goes

I have a huge amount of pictures and text here - Korea - via Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Japan - September 2011 - Page 1
also has a few days in hong kong at the start and transits in Taipei and Tokyo
