Hthanks for that PaulST, I agree that a video is more encompassing than just photos. What editing program did you use?

My 70D was a squeeze in PE but I forced my legs to sacrifice a bit of comfort for what I feel are fairly good photos.
Excellent photos! I never thought I'd say this to another bloke, but bless you and your legs!

Also, great job with the video. I think iMovie can handle both the video and the "Ken Burns" stills - is that what you used?

Hi Kelvedon.
Windows Live Movie Maker. :) It's basic but does the trick.
I've started doing a lot more footage, in particular panoramic video shots (Capetown, for example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgEpIZl-JME ) as you're able to hear all of the sounds that you did when you were actually there and obviously see a wider angle of view. I quite enjoy looking through my travel albums and reminding myself of good times (especially after a long, tough day at work. :) )
I must admit I wished I filmed more Antarctica now that I've found out that it's rare to actually see it. It thought QF63 always went past it.

My legs wish to pass on their thanks. ;)

I've read this thread with interest PaulST as JNB and CPT are the first stops on our RTW next year. Have bought a Nikon D5300 for the trip and hadn't really thought much about videos but your examples have certainly changed my thinking on that. Well done!

CPT was beautiful, JNB much less so, feel free to message me closer to your time there and I'll give you a few tips.
So much to do there. Table Mountain is great, Robben Island (read Mandela's autobiography before if you can) and there's cheap double decker buses that have multiple routes around the city which are a perfect way to see the place.

Thanks PaulST. Our son has been based in JNB for 5 years and he and GF will be coming to CPT with us so he gets the unenviable task of making sure we get the "F" experience! ;)

It's a Qantas ad....but really you set the bar high for others to follow......just need comments on chilled champers and leg room shots, otherwise well done!

Thanks Plant. No worries, I'll remember that for next time. :) I'm flying QF21 in PE later this month so I'll be sure to review that.

Just curious but did you use your own I-pad/camera or do Qantas supply I-pads in PE ? Anyone have experience of Qantas supplied I-pads and what happens to them after a flight regarding hygiene concerns etc or can one "walk away" with them lol.

The featured dish didn't look very appetising, looking at the meal service do you get almost j class crockery/cutlery etc ?

Hi chevyrecycler, I took the photos with my iPhone 4S and the videos with a Canon EOS 70D. The IFE screen appears from the arm-rest in PE, which means you need to stow it away for landing and take-off.

Have never had an iPad in PE or international actually. The ones on the QFd flights I've been on have a screen to say that they are useless if removed (i.e. stolen).

Sorry, I missed your question. J cutlery wrapped in a white napkin as well as a white table cloth thrown over your fold-away-table.

Have just booked at short notice QF64 Classic J for next March - Couldn't get a Classic J or PE seat on QF63 on the way out so opted for a long detour with CX via HKG on the way over. The luxury of having a shipload of points. Can't wait

I have travelled on the same flight to JNB twice. Very comfortable and nice flight!!
