Viva Macau are offering fares for $276 one way, $583 return inclusive of tax until 31 July, for the travel period of 1 August to 17 December. That’s right, sale fares in December.

That's a greta price - wonder if it's a viable alternative for the SYD-HKG routing?

They've been hinting also at MEL-MFM and BNE-MFM services for two years now - still no official word it appears.

Possibly, but quite small seat pitch though I don't know the numbers. I base the comment on experience of individuals rather than knowing the seat pitch numbers.

It's easy to transfer from Hong Kong to Macau and vice versa.

I've flown them a number of times and they're highly recommended at this sort of price. Same seat pitch as any other airline. Can't comment on the food choices.

At Macau Airport on arrival, you can transfer by bus to Guangzhou or ferry to Hong Kong without having to first pass through Macau immigration.

Viva Macau's website is announcing that Melbourne - Macau flights start on December 9.

Fares appear to be A$245 plus A$100 or so taxes each way. They are currently available right through the holidays. Seems to be the cheapest way to Hong Kong for the Christmas holidays.
