As is often mentioned here a VPN is essential when travelling.

I've previously used IPVanish which damaged my computer to such an extent I had to get a technician to repair it. So no go.

Also used previously Strong and not happy with that either.

So any recommendations of a VPN you're using around the world and in Australia?

Hvr Expressvpn is what most of the FT techs type dudes use in China - word is its one of the few to consistently get around the Great Fire Wall of China - China is the only place I ever use a VPN and yes it works.

Viper is excellent, Apps for all devices, ultra easy to use, fast and reliable and first class support. Also they own all there own equipment so not relying on third parties.

PureVPN here. Works well 95% of the time.

I use Private Internet Access. So far so good for me.....

+1. They have two Australian POP's as well.

I have been able to 'download' at over 6.0Mb/s over the VPN through the US POP's. I am on FTTN also which helps.

A negative recommendation for PureVPN for me - they locked me out of my account twice for paying by paypal with a garbage excuse. Rendered itself useless for security when travelling.

I use golden frog vyprvpn here in China.

Does what it says it would and been using for two years so far...

I use unotelly but with recent Netflix upgrade to recognise VPN use I have found that it is not as useful anymore ! But are ver price competitive

Well have now installed Expressvpn on my laptop ready for my travel commencing tomorro.

One area I find it necessary is in the UK where many television sites are censored and need a VPN to access. Some hotel and lounges also like to restrict access to certain sites that while suitable for a public location aren't to their liking.

This is a message that unotelly have updated there servers for the latest round of geotightening by Netflix!

Netshade here. Proxies and VPNs with diverse locations.

I used it in Iran to access Facebook. And Dan Murphys, which had so many alcohol-related keywords it triggered an official warning when I clicked on an email link. It wasn't specifically blocked, but it probably is now. Sorry.

I use Vyper VPN its very good, never had an issue with it in the last 12 months.
I previously used StrongVPN but always had issues connecting and didn't have the counties I wanted to access a server in.

For interest, PIA from PER via MEL PoP -

TPG FTTB/AC wireless via Asus DSL-AC68U VDSL2 Modem Router/Windows 10 (can get slightly faster when running OSX)

I know this thread is old so you probably don't need an answer any more but I use PureVPN and I'm really happy with it. The speed is more than enough for me (so stream without interruption, for example). They currently have a special offer (one year free if you buy one, starting at 2 dollars a month). Moreover, I think there is a 7 day free trial if want to try the service. Visit this page to have more information : https://billing.purevpn.com/aff.php?aff=24475 (referral link) or https://www.purevpn.com/ (non-ref link).

I had previously posted negative comments about purevpn's atrocious customer service but the platform itself has been reliable for me lately.
