VS Drop SYD - Exit Australia

Can we still use our vs miles on vs flights elsewhere? Eg hkg to LHR or LHR to JFK for example on vs metal?

Got an email today from Flying Club..."thanks for your loyalty...you can still earn and spend", etc

After waiting to see what choices we will have to use our FC miles beyond May 2014, all they are essentially offering is a 2,000 mile discount flying VA SYD-MEL/BNE

They have a double SC offer on VA, but only if you aren't already a Velocity member

But hey, it's not all bad, they did after all thank me for my loyalty...

I got the same email today too!

If only I had a decent points balance I would go a redemption spree on VA after my 5 year absence on the airline.

Double SC on VA is a great offer, worth considering although for myself I'll have little time to make the most of that offer.

Currently weighing it up, but not exactly a compelling reason to join VA velocity.

The second last VS201 departed SYD about 30" late and is now northeast of Lithgow. It is being operated by A340-600 G-VYOU, an unusual designation for a plane when I thought the airline was all about one eminent individual. The flight is allegedly due into HKG 6" early at 2149 (2349 AEST.)

Where will said person be tomorrow when the last flight pulls into and subsequently departs from SYD - Necker Island?

His airline has been 'enhanced' out of Oz, it seems. 'Upy...rs' class will be consigned to history at least as far as SYD goes. The fairly recently discussed expansion to MEL never occurred.

I convinced a colleague last year to fly to London on this operator. Flights were satisfactory.

Sad to see an airline that tried to be a bit different discontinuing its version of the Kangaroo Route.

I'm flying VS200 for the last time tonight and will miss the HK clubhouse! Such a shame, was the best option for me direct to HK due to the flight time over and I only started doing it in the last 8 months after year on QF, so will have to look at my options going forward... I hope VA picks up the gap!!!

I'm flying VS200 for the last time tonight and will miss the HK clubhouse! .......

This worked for me also - I'd work in Sydney trip and then jump on VS201 - Good VFF point earner ..... and I also enjoyed the clubhouse........
Might 'watch' it depart SYD for the last time on Flightradar for the hell of it tomorrow if I get the chance.

One less option ...

The last VS201 now leaving the apron via a water arch and then a runway 34 L departure

Flew VS201 to HKG in April. Aircraft interior showing its age. Went Y+ but seat leather had worn through to the suede backing and looked like someone had left a newspaper on it too long with print transferred to the seat. The in flight entertainment didn't start working until about 2 hrs into the flight and then failed totally in the Y+ cabin) about 2 hrs later. Walking through J class getting off the flight, it also looked tired. Diagonally set seating I hadn't seen before.

Flew VS 200 yesterday to SYD. Interior in better nick but still looked old. Service and food was good. Loved the Clubhouse lounge in HKG. Order food from the menu which was beautiful. Hot and cold running staff who couldn't do enough for you. Seats there were at a premium the closer the flight approached and the "funky" looking seats I have to say were not very comfortable. Great selection from the bar also and the flight went from gate immediately below the lounge. Have attached a couple of photos, one of the bar (no it doesn't slope, just my bad photography) and my order (which was delish) washed down with a very nice shiraz (didn't see what it was). Had a look in the QF lounge courtesy of a colleague. I have to say it looked like a work in progress, like they hadn't finished the floor. Other threads say this is the finished product...?!
