Hey

My Gold VFF membership is up for review on 11 September. I will be 30 SC's short of required to maintain gold, yet flying out on the 15th Sep BNE to Frankfurt on Singapore Airlines..

Any ideas re will Virgin maintain me at Gold? or drop me back to silver??

Cheers
Steve

An unfortunate review date in aviation. You can only ask, some times they will.

Don't rely on it: if you really want to maintain, fly the 30 SCs.

I echo this. I hit Gold on 490 SCs and Platinum on 990 SCs however in both cases I had a number of future bookings and would have made it to 500/1000 within a week or two anyway. I've not heard of anyone qualifying or requalifying while 30 SCs short and I'd be very surprised if this happened.

Some people have been lucky and have been comped status with very little flying.

I have managed 400 SCs exactly with a review date of early September.

No plans to re-qualify again next year so will be hoping to be comped status.

Is there a bit of leeway on how long you can access the lounge after gold expires?

I'm assuming it's BNE - SIN - FRA provided it's an eligible fare that would be 70 each way, which means 140 return. As long as you don't have any credits that are expiring before you return that should bring you to 500 which means you'd get Gold again anyway? Then again if you want those 140 credits to count to next years requal I'd just fly a return to Mel or a triangular 10 status credit each leg trip to get you to requal within the next month.

You actually ask? I might be in a similar position in a couple of weeks when I hit 495 SC. I have plenty of SC's already booked but I'd prefer to hit gold sooner rather than later...

I don't ask as I am sitting at 1800 SC with VA and 3680 with QF, but it cant hurt to ask, they have done a lot of status matching over the years, so a couple of SC short they may do it. ( I was not status matched to VA)

I m on 980 SC and traveling to ADL tomorrow returning to BNE Thursday night. On holidays to SYD the next day (Friday) then Darwin the next week with my wife. So by Thursday night I will be WP. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle accessing the benefits for my upcoming flights. By this I mean specifically accessing row 3 for the longish domestic Sydney Darwin return flights.

The points should post pretty fast from your domestic flights, assuming you've got your velocity number against those bookings already.
If so, once you're WP a quick call to the call centre and they should be able to fix up your seat allocation, I'd think? (You could try even doing it yourself if the bookings were made post Sabre)

Thanks! will do

You should find your account upgraded to plat tomorrow morning. How do I know? Cause my account was upgraded at 980SC and I had onward bookings to take me over the line. Enjoy plat!

I had a friend comped last yearthen her review came up march 13 she only had 350 SC they auto renewed her but this may not be the case this year.
Id call and ask

On my old velocity gold card it mentions that this card is valid (along with the access benefits I assume) for a further 28 days from the review date. I cant see this on the new global wallet card however.

I would keep the old card ...
