Waitlist:
I feel very stupid asking this but could someone update me on the waitlist process. I am looking at a trip to France for 3 months in June, July or August (an very flexible) and would like Premium Economy or Business but know so little that I am not sure if the wait list applies to Economy only. I need to end up in Toulouse but plenty of flights within Europe can get me that last bit. Appreciate any advice for an old bloke

Hi Steve. You can waitlist Business with SQ, but not sure about PE as it's fairly new to the Krisflyer Reward program. Do you have specific dates in mind and do you have enough points to cover PE and/or Business?

What airline/frequent flyer program are you planning on using WaggaSteve?
That probably answers one question I hadnt even thought of - are these associated with Frequent Flyer points only, in which case I have some with SAA but havent earnt any additional ones in last 2 years

I am a bit confused now. Are you looking for paid or FF seats? If paid there shouldn't be a need to wait list flights? Unless you are saying the specific flight you want is already booked out?

Very simple. I am trying to save money. Last I heard of waitlisting was many years ago and if you were very flexible on dates and could act quickly once notified of a spot, it was a very cheap way to fly. But that was many years ago

Oh, I think what you are getting at is what is commonly called 'standby'. Wait listing is the term used when a flight is oversold or full so there are no seats available. Unfortunately flying 'standby' really isn't an option internationally unless you have access to industry fares (ie family work for an airline or in the travel industry). If you are only looking for a paid ticket (not using any points) I think your best bet will just be looking out for sales. Get to know the prices on the route you want and jump on it when you are happy.

OK Thanks a lot
