Hi all,

I’ve currently booked MEL-SIN-MEL for the wife and I to go to the Formula 1 in September this year. We have confirmed reward seats in Y on a single booking.

Given the new rules where wait lists are cleared 14 days out from departure, could I book 2 seats on the MEL-SIN leg in J (currently saver is showing as waitlisted) and then cancel this leg from the confirmed Y booking if the wait list comes through?

I’m guessing I could get the points refunded with a cancellation fee? Or would this not be possible without stuffing up my return leg?

Thanks in advance :)

Matt

Yes that’s not a problem.

So currently you got MEL-SIN-MEL in Y for 2 people in a single booking

If you manage to get the MEL-SIN in J, just ring up, explain situation. They will do this:

Split the MEL-SIN-MEL into 2 x one way bookings
Cancel the MEL-SIN Y seats
Refund the points from the cancellation
You pay a nominal fee. I think about $100 SGD.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
