Walked on broken glass on plane

... Although aircraft are supposedly cleaned from whatever else may have been spilt down the aisles, it's more hygienic to wear some kind of footwear.

And gloves! Studies show the dirtiest places on the plane are the the arm rests, IFE handset and screen from, wait for it...e.coli.
I haven't resorted yet to taking antibacterial wipes with me but have wondered. ;)

Just another comment on this and the staff members on the plane - last year I boarded a flight in Mexico and a young couple who were drunk got on and sat two rows from me. They stuffed around and ended up dropping a bottle of tequila from the overhead locker. It exploded, glass going everywhere. They were removed from the flight, we were moved another row away and the crew did a magnificent job off picking up all the broken glass. However, after takeoff, a few more pieces appeared (no doubt had been impossible to find during the cleanup but came loose in the takeoff)

What I am saying is that the aircraft environment is not an easy thing to clean, despite the best efforts of staff.

Well for me, I walk around in socks (long haul only) because I can't be bothered/don't want to disturb others by retrieving shoes from the overhead lockers every time I get up, which is reasonably frequent. I have NEVER seen or encountered broken glass left in the aisle or other accessible areas, nor jagged cans, squishy food etc etc. Mind you, I do choose my cabin with some care :) .
Your shoes are in the overhead bins? Why?

I take it you've never been in an emergency? I haven't either but I won't be searching for shoes when I need to get out in a hurry.

Live life on the edge within reason. I've done too many stupid things that I regret but luckily still alive....

A few airlines used to have seats that ran on tracks as they reclined... they'd literally crush anything left in the way. If there was no appropriate storage an option was to put your shoes up top.

Last week, I did a flight on CX (HKG-BNE, though that's irrelevant). I was quite impressed that one of the flight attendants asked the passenger in 1A to please put her shoes on for take-off.

Relating to broken glass onboard - I'm aware of a case a few years ago where a pax claimed he found broken glass in his meal onboard. He sued the airline for compensation. He lost because the airline proved that nowhere in the production process or in the airport was any glass of that type used. The judge found the pax had brought the broken glass onboard himself for the purpose of making a false claim.

It probably also helped that the airline established that instead of being a well credentialed academic with a PhD as he claimed to be, the claimant had in fact forged all of his tertiary qualifications and publications and was basically a complete fraud in all aspects of his life. Hadn't even finished a diploma let alone a degree.
