WARNING: BA Changed their Cash upgrade System - implications on QFF

Hi Folks,

until now I flew quite a lot with BA. I frequently used to upgrade Economy Tickets to Business Class. They earned full Business SCs and miles.

Since a few weeks payed upgrades book into "U" which is the award booking class. There was no note about that change.
So the problem is, that the chance of an upgrade decreased quite significantly with the change.

The main enhancement comes to the milage credit. I doubt that you get any miles for the flights.

Has anyone experience with the credit of Miles/SCs with the recently enhanced upgrades?

These were the ones for £40 out of gatwick yeah? Damn, was looking forward to using some of these. If that's gone, Euro business is rubbish anyway so why bother.

Yes, there are two systems: Cash upgrade after booking and airport upgrades. I had problems with the correct credit of airport upgrades with QFF, but that was solved.

Yes, CE is rubbish, but the SCs are not! You still can book cheap business fares, but only on a return basis with saturday night in between.

Thanks for the warning. I was planning to credit my pro-actively upgraded BA flight LHR-IST to QFF to get me over the line to SG in Oct. I see it is now in U class so I guess I might not even get the original discount economy SCs with QFF. Looks like I'll now need to credit it to BAEC and work out whether getting to SG with QF is worth the hassle.

We should get the original Economy credits. I had many issues with that. So if upgraded with miles, you should get at least the original SCs. So why not with a cash upgrade!
