Just received this email via an email address that is not linked to my Qantas FF account.

If you right click the link (do not left click it) you will see the address is not Qantas.

So just to confirm - I did not go to the link provided - but is that really a social engineering/fake web site designed to collect personal information?

Mods may want to disable if fake - or screen shot fake email/web site to warn others.

These things come around all the time, quite frankly identifying such emails should be part of internet 101.

It goes to
bip.spgolina.edu.pl, an address owned by an educational institute in Poland... So it's probably legit

Don't know if its coincidental but I just attempted to log in to my a/c, and after 2 attempts with an "incorrect" password I was locked out. My husband was locked out after 1 attempt (using correct password) and this error message comes up [h=1]Sorry[/h]You have made several unsuccessful attempts to login. The login function has been disabled for 5 minutes.
You may try logging in again in one minute, or call the Frequent Flyer Service Centre to speak to one of our consultants.

Purely coincidental...

Its not legit, and to compound issues the QFF system is down (confirmed by QF).

I'm amazed anyone gets suckered by these. I've even had legitimate messages from my bank which I ignore until they chase me up by phone, and even then I ask the reps from the bank to identify themselves, which they routinely refuse to do. Yes, I'm sure there are many "this customer is a PITA" notes on my accounts.

Don't get me started on "rep's" from the bank... I love it how they will refuse to answer any questions "due to security reasons" until you have given them enough information for a identity thief to start doing damage, no doubt the irony was lost on the no doubt very expensive "security" consultants which they hired.

These days I tend to ignore any calls from blocked numbers, and if I need to speak to the bank I will only do so after calling one of the phone numbers which I have for them.

It's funny how it's a seemingly one way street. If you call the bank (or your telco or insurance company . . . ) you need to provide your life history; if they call you there's apparently no way to identify that they are legit.

Usually these scam emails get picked up by gmail spam filter, marked as phishing attempt, and goes straight to spam folder.

Probably the same mob who "enhance" the legit website from time-to-time!!

If you do not believe they are who they claim to be then they should provide you with a general number to call. I have done this a few times when I have had a suspicion something was not quite right.
