Telephone sales allow BPay if more than seven days from the date of the flight. Maybe there is some limitation if using a voucher.

As for debit cards, these attract the card fee, except in the case of an online booking using a debit Mastercard within 7 days of the first flight.

Hi,

Booking ONLINE with points and money YOU can only use credit card, doesn't matter if it is a debit card. I booked on line with points and money and had to pay CC charge as no other way and also over the phone with the voucher had to pay CC charge as no other way.

I do believe if you are not using a voucher/points and book ONLINE they offer a free transaction process, it is just frustrating that they don't offer it for the above.

I did read that if you go into the Store in Brisbane (or other capital city) and redeem the voucher there, you can pay CASH avoiding the fee. Considering I live 45km from the City doesn't make it a viable option at the moment.

regards

Read the guidelines, doesn't mention using VOUCHERS< why take out the BPAY option if using a voucher?

I did some dummy domestic bookings for QF flights on qantas.com:

  • [*=1]More than 7 Days, CC and BPay options offered, BPay was 'free'.[*=1]& days or less, CC and Debit Mastercard option offered, Debit M/C was 'free'.
It's quite possible you got a mis informed agent.

How far in advance were you looking to book?

Hi,

Did you try with points and money? then there is no option......... Use a voucher over the phone then there is no option..........?

I booked online myself with points and money and there was not option for BPAY etc. when enquiring to customer support was told when using points or a voucher you have to use a credit card and will be charged to do so, no alternative.

But yes Normal booking online (no points, no voucher) then you can use BPAY etc. for free

Thats why I am wodering/asking why not have BPAY for the points/voucher option.

thanks

OK, that was not made clear in your post #19 of this thread.

Hi, could someone please tell me why when booking with QANTAS you can not pay by direct debit or via BPAY or POLI so have to incure a CHARGE of $7.70 per transaction.
Since I don't use Points+pay I was not aware this was the case - as to why, I can only conject.

It could be anything from a deliberate trick to make more money to a simple IT failure.

Not all Capital cities have one....

I too had a $200 voucher from QF - when I went to use it, they said I had to post it in or drop it into the QF travel store. I told them I wanted to use it for a return flight in 48 hrs time and it wouldn't get to them in time. They told me to take it into the QF store. I said "how do I do that? you just closed the one down in DRW".

After a lot of swings and round-abouts, they booked it for me, held the ticket without payement, and I paid at BNE airport QF ticket sales desk when I arrived in BNE (on a VA flight mind you!)

Interestingly, the ticket had ticketed through my QFF profile (ie i could make changes to seat selection/upgrade request which you can't do till its been ticketed).

Cheers

Simsy
