Yes saw that on Sky news earlier.

Power or no power still heading off to work. Let them worry about the power problems....

We are all in big trouble if things go bad where I am located.

Indeed! If the Brisbane River rises and floods where you are, Brisbane no longer will exist....

(BTW, Was in a city Woolies earlier, plenty of F&V, meat was pretty low, water bottles were nearly empty - but (apart from one bloke) I didn't really see people hoarding)

Really that's the key, you're there ready to work. Not your fault if they can't give you anything to do. ;)

Buying meat is a complete waste, learnt that when cyclone Winifred hit Cairns. No electricity for more than a day or so and your meat is worthless.

Have plenty of food and when I hired a car before Christmas I purchased 16 1.5L bottles of water as they are much easier to carry that way.

I'm in a flood prone area (east brisbane) but on the rather high side of the gabba so I'm safe but not liking the idea of no power tomorrow.

I might just go into work because at least I'll have internet! lol

Enegex announced 100,000 res connections throught bne and 22,000 biz and corp connections switched off starting from 7am in the morning.
disconnections will stay for at least 2 days or until further notice.

They state they will commence a mass media and communication campaign starting from 10pm tonight.

They say they have no choice. A bulk of bne major transformers are underground.
It it the ones in the 1974 flood zone map area's that will be dissconnected first.

Whilst bne airport may not close due to flooding l don't know how it will continue to opperate when staff, EMS, ATC, customs, immigration, maitinance and airline crews and ground services staff as well as passengers can not get to or from the airport.
Of course l have not even began to think about materials, fuel, food, catering and beverage delivery's ect.

And with communication/computor and power control issues, l would hazzard a guess that many other factors will be responsible for Bne's continued opperation.

I just cannot see how Bne airport can continue to opperate more than a day or 2 at the most.
Even without flooding.

Energex Has just revised and made a new announcement a few min's ago.

Due to flood levels riseing quicker than originally announced 2 hrs ago, Bne cbd and 1/2 of Ipswich will begin disconnections at 10pm tonight until further notice.

as a side note, the whole of the vodaphone network has collapsed.
Vodaphone say's the failure is across all Qld services including internet.

I'm in (on?) Eatons Hill and my vodafone reception is awesome tonight.

Their website can't handle the requests:

HTTP/1.1 Server Too Busy

(Yep, their server is *flooded* with requests for information <groan>)

Will need to recheck that in the morning. May affect where I am, or my work or both.

Well congrads Karen, you must be one the few that is.
I know they have some shared services but not many.

You must be one of the lucky ones

they are useing the 74 flood maps as the guide to disconnections.
If your power comes from an area that went under in 74, then you will be effected.

There will be other dissconections, but the floodzones are starting tonight first.

Bne Cbd is being turned off first. Part of it is to disuade people entering the cbd for work. they want the roads clear.
They don't want a repeat of today. EMS were blocked virtually everywhere at ground level and choppers could not fly due to weather.

All trains have now been suspended until 6am Wednesday with an hourly timetable operating for Wednesday (Airport half hourly).

Thanks Jaffa. I can tell you're close to the source, so thanks again for the info. It's much better than I can access from the normal sources.

I'm at work, and sneaking in the odd post when l can. ;)

The Port of brisbane has just been ordered to close until further notice to divert resorces.
