Wealth package now includes platinum according to phone rep but not the website

Even if I were given the Diamond for free, I'd only use the AMEX which, compared to the Plat, has the same earn rate (1.5:1) only with a higher annual cap.

Given the limited opportunity to use Amex without a surcharge, that limit is unlikely to be reached by many.

BTW, I declined an invitation to take up 'private' banking as the interest rate is marginally higher than what I could negotiate on my own !

Status maybe but at the end of the day, lower rate wins for me.

Then my annual AMEX spending limit would be 120K.

Thanks for the info which I now see on page 10 of the Ts & Cs.

The web site did not make that clear to me.

Actually, your annual spending limit on amex would be 40k, which would get you 120k award points (3 Award Points / Dollar on AMEX) at which the earn rate drops off

I guess another strategy might be to request an upgrade to Diamond after you've hit the limit within a few months of your membership year.

Diamond was never free on wealth package. However CBA (possibly accidentally) sent an offer to a large number of Plat card holders an offer to upgrade to Diamond for "no extra cost, for life". I took it up and have had the Diamond free since on the wealth package. Note that at the time not even Plat was free - it only had gold free on wealth package - they had removed it a couple of years earlier.

Depends on your relationship with CBA. I had a fee free plat with the wealth package and was upgraded to fee free diamond when the latter was issued.

This would explain why when I rang them before our overseas trip last year to advise we would be using our cards overseas that they offered the platinum. Suppose I should do something about it, but its a pain changing all the payments.

Have had the Plat card(s) free since inception with the Wealth Package - love the Amex, v happy
