Yeah it's annoying. You don't have to queue at the check-in counter though, both the lounge and the gate staff are able to print them.
 
I now check in at the lounge (or gate if no lounge). With the fly ahead benefit a REAL benefit to me, I don't want to risk it by checking in online. (still get the preselected "best seat" offering on original booking anyway).
 
Is there any update as to why we can't reprint boarding passes from a kiosk? It's a feature I would use a lot (Ie, checkin at home, and pickup a BP at the airport.).

Just re-read this post and thought I had better clarify a mistake.......if no lounge I check-in at the check-in counters, not the gate! (I've never checked-in at a gate....not even sure if you can).

If you have checked in the gate can re issue you a boarding pass. You are right the gate can't check you in.
