I have found a great deal this afternoon for those who need to transit from Avalon Airport to Melbourne Airport. One way car hire from Avalon to Melbourne Tullamarine with Budget is $39.96 for any type of car - I booked a Ford XR6 (normal hire $125+). Dont know how long this will last but its obviously a special to put the cars back to Tullamarine - the pricing doesnt work the other way (Tullamarine-Avalon) - its full tote odds! Thought this might be helpful as getting between the two airports can be time consuming and costly. AngieP

It's been going for a while I think. It actually is more useful than you've mentioned however, because it also includes dropping off in Melbourne CBD. Essentially an alternative to a taxi or shuttle bus. If you've got a few people and a bit of luggage then definitely worth it & saves a lot of hassle. 2 hour rental period.
