Anyone with any experience with carrying on a wedding dress on Qantas and Qatar? I know most airlines will make an effort, especially as we will be travelling in J, but it would be good to know the actual dimensions of the suits closets.

First leg is QF SYD-MEL, currently booked on the A330 with the new business suites; are there still decent sized suit closets after the refit? Or are the 737 suit closets just as large?

Following legs are on Qatar on the A380 and the 787. Would be keen would be keen to know the size of coat closets on both aircraft - I know new aircraft, even widebodies, tend to have smaller coat closets than the 747s of old.

If closet space is at a premium, what are the dimensions of the overhead lockers on the QF and QR flights; would it be better for a couple to pick seats behind rather than beside each other to maximise the length of their overhead space?

Gee bridezilla(;)) just buy a business class seat for the dress and concentrate on other stuff..... Like the groom for the big day?

There was discussion a year or so ago about a bride-to-be taking a dress as carry on vs checked. Just have to remember where it is!

.. it's probably among the Similar Threads, below.

Don't forget, it isn't "your overhead space", it belongs to everyone traveling in J and if its a full flight you may well end up with a few tears.

If purchased in Oz, don't forget to claim GST under TRS.

Eligible claims if "you wear or carry the goods"...!

i went to a wedding in WLG in Jan and just happened to buy a new suit during the post Christmas sales. Literally the morning of the flight over while pondering how to pack said suit without totally crushing it or whether to carry it in a suit bag, I realised I could claim GST! First row of economy on QF, but hostie happily hung it up for me!

The cabin crew quite regularly look after wedding dresses for people. Just ask. Don't stick it in the overhead.

My wife had her dress stored by the QF cabin crew in a cupboard from MEL to LAX and back. They were more than happy to take if off and return to us at the end of the flight. This was in Y.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I'm curious how you went with this Formal Hall.

We have to carry-on a Wedding dress and suit on a QF 738 and QR 359 soon (in J). Any tips?

No worries for using a old thread; we had no problems on any airline we flew with. J class helps of course. 738 would be the tightest squeeze, so I guess you'd want to board early if heading to a wintry destination where people had bulky coats. QR staff were very excited and wanted to see pictures (we flew them on the way back).
