Exciting news!

We’re holding a hangar event in Sydney for Qantas employees and media on our 95[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday, Monday 16 November 2015 from 9-11am to welcome “Retro Roo II” to the family.

To help us celebrate the milestone, we’d like to offer AFF members an opportunity to join in the festivities.

For a chance to win an invitation, send Red Roo a private message with your earliest memory of Qantas. Please include your Qantas Frequent Flyer number and ensure the contact details listed are current. Entries close 3pm (Sydney time) Friday, 30 October 2015.

While there’s no word limit (we all dread seeing “25 words or fewer”!), please keep your story short and sweet. :)

Here's some background as reference: QANTAS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR ‘RETRO ROO II’ - Qantas News Room.

NB/ As always, this post has been approved by Australian Frequent Flyer (AFF). They have no financial interest in this offer, and will not be involved in the judging process. The AFF admin team, including Moderators are welcome to participate.

Good Luck everyone - and hope the winners really appreciate the effort that this must put Qantas to.

Precluding myself, I'll be boarding (a relatively new A380 in current livery) a flight at LHR that day singing "it feels like home to me ...."

Regards,

BD

From the link above:

Qantas’ first retro painted aircraft is named in honour of James Strong who served as Qantas Group CEO from 1993 to 2001 and features the livery used between 1971 and 1984. Qantas will unveil both the livery and the name of Retro Roo II at a hangar event for employees at Sydney airport on Monday November 16, the day it celebrates its 95th birthday.

What odds Retro II will follow the sequence of Retro I and be named in honour of Geoff Dixon (who followed Strong as CEO)?

When do the entries close RedRoo?

Mine is in the 'pm' mail. A real flashback moment. A sign of old age I guess - I can't remember what I did last week but years ago? Clear as crystal. :(

Thankyou Red Roo for inviting me to your Birthday Party!

Oh dang I missed this. Was travelling in Japan.
I do have a great memory of visiting the flight deck of a 747-300, with my toy 747 in hand, somewhere between Australia and London.

Also - wondering best airport Hotel to stay in - guess that depends on where we meet up.

I haven't seen the invitation yet but the last RetroRoo event was from QF HQ at Coward St Mascot. Buses took us airside to the hangar.

If anyone is unable to attend, I will happily take their invite of their hands.

Selfless I know..
