Wendouree allocations and general discussion

As Dr Ralph mentioned the reply is usual.
Lita is probably going through all the letters that have been sent in for mailing list requests and going to write back to them all at some stage, if you make the list you may just get the sorry letter next June July or the allocation letter! It’s a waiting game. 😉😁
I’m just excited to get that letter back. By the sounds of it I’m sure they are inundated with requests. Thanks for the replies Dr and Ed, I’ll wait for the response in 2024 - fingers crossed.

I've always wondered if transferring the red crayon to someone else is possible. I know my ex-spouse won't be using hers as her new partner prefers baijiu over reds.

Guessing the time of year is approaching all the lucky ones are soon to receive the allocation for purchase. Could I also expect to get a response to a letter sent last year or is this a long term waiting game?

Still got a little while to wait yet. Order forms don’t get sent out until around first week of July.

Even if you get an order form, it is not a guarantee of ANY allocation as I have discovered earlier last year.
I first wrote in 2020. I got a reply in 2021 saying the wait may be a few years. In July 2023 I got sent an order form and in Sept 2023 I got a letter saying there wasn’t enough for me and maybe there’s a chance next year as 2022 was a bigger vintage.

Yes, a handwritten letter around November last year. My thoughts were a response would come with the next release, or would you expect a response on receipt of the letter?
Unless the Wendouree procedure had changed, I would have expected a reply to be received within 3-4 weeks or so from the time you posted the into letter to them.

So it could be 1. The process has changed (personally I think it is unlikely)
2. Your letter hasn't reached them (Maybe Au Post fault or just got lost somehow)
3. Their reply was sent but hasn't reached you (Maybe Au Post fault or gone to the wrong address etc)

Personally I would write again explaining that you wrote in November but didn't hear back from them or maybe even call them explaining your situation?

When I first wrote to them, I have received a hand-written reply in about 2-3 weeks from memory:

"Thank you for your recent letter and for your interest in Wendouree Cellars.
Unfortunately we are unable to deliver hopeful news with regards to the mailing list. Putting your name on the list is the easy part, receiving an allocation is another matter and may test your patience for a few years.
We still have two very small releases ahead of us and beyond that is a bit of a mystery at this stage. We will advise you of the state of affairs in July, upon release of 2019 line up. Thank you again and kind regards."

Later that year (2021) they wrote to me again advising their inability to offer me any and asked to write back to them to advise/confirm if I want to remain on their list which I did. In July 2022 they advised the same but said that they will keep me on the list unless I advise otherwise. In 2023 I have received the order form but failed to receive any wines!

Appreciate the responses, if a call would help I will ring as its possible I had the wrong address or the return address was wrong (I’m not hand writing letters very often!)

Thanks for the info guys. Cheers

It took me 2 letters approx 8 months apart to get a response. Second letter was similar to the first (no mention of sending a first).

Hi all, new to the forum! Just wondering how do I get into their mailing list, can you please share their email/ snail mail?
Many thanks

if anyone here is melbourne based and would be interested in swapping one of their Wendouree Shiraz for a bottle of Sami Odi (take your pick of vintages etc) please let me know. They both have a fairly similar secondary market value but I'm happy to sweeten the deal if need be :)
