I'm planning on flying WestJet using Qantas points, as a separate booking during a OneWorld award.

What is their legroom like? I'm assuming I can pay cash to book an extra legroom seat if I make a classic partner reward booking.

I don't recall the legroom being particularly good, nor bad.

Don't assume you'll be able to do anything with your booking if booked using Qantas points. When flying on Westjet booked as a Qantas award I was unable to checkin online or even using an airport kiosk because their system said I had a "paper booking". So I had to queue up for an hour in their special assistance queue just to checkin.

There were also no status benefits due to having QFF Gold and checked baggage cost extra.

For a 1.5 hour flight I think I'll just tolerate the legroom.

Bag fees aren't too bad, if it isn't to challenging to pre-pay on a points booking:

You normally just pay for baggage at the airport when you check in (which will be through the special assistance desk if you're on a QF award, so allow plenty of time).
